What a cake! What a masterpiece! Now for the piece de resistance!!!
*Grabs mixing bowl and spoon*
Now what flavour icing should we have?

Andromeda Posted Apr 15, 2000
I'll start making some icing flowers to go on the cake...
(if I can resist the temptation to eat them all first)

Chocolate! Chocolate!!!

Does this cake have *shudder* any moving parts or running water like I've seen in some wedding cakes recently????
Or is it a good ole fashioned large, round, birthday cake with lovely pink icing and rosettes and sprinkles and stuff???
Someone should go get Ændr, baker extrodinaire, I bet she could make a whole lotta layers in all kinda flavors. An' maybe we could each pick a layer to decorate. [if they all dont go together at the end we could have a 'main cake' and several, er... supplementary cakes.]
*wanders off in search of Ændr...*

PS whatever we do, I wanna lick a spoon, too. specially a chocolate one.

That's a great idea - this party is too big for just one cake!
By the way, these moving parts.... are they edible at all?
Icing the cake
bludragon, aka the Dragon Queen of Damogran Posted Apr 17, 2000
no! and that's the worst part of it all...
Oh, the shame, the shame!
not one chocolate moving part.

I havent found Ændr yet. h2g2 connection problems for the last coupla hours...

Dr E Vibenstein (You know it is, it really is.) Posted Apr 17, 2000
When you find her, be sure to make it known that we want edible moving parts!

Can I have pink icing for my cake please? Pink with silver shiny cake decoration ball type things?
*eyes glaze over at the words 'shiny' and 'things'*
Icing the cake
bludragon, aka the Dragon Queen of Damogran Posted Apr 18, 2000
yes, yes, you can have alla shiny things you want on your cake.
The 'shiny silver ball type cake decorations' are called 'dragees', and you can suck 'em, but dont chew 'em. It hurts when you chew 'em.

PS I left Ændr a note in the KITCHEN back in Damogran, so I hope she will be along eventually. She makes really good cake. *drool*

hmmm moving parts...
that's doable... could do penguins that slide down slides, seen a good water wheel that could be made to look like the millenium eye... could do a button labelled "do not push" (label flips over to say "do not push me again")
edible ones... well, they'll have to be made of crystallised sugar and so will only be edible if you suck them for ages and they'll be REALLY bad for your teeth.
multi flavour cake - I can do an 16 flavour cake - a large square checkerboard cake of 3 layers with 4 by 4 squares in the board. Flavours.... chocolate, ginger, chocolate and cinamon, triple chocolate, lemon, chocolate and orange, cherry, chocolate and vanilla, orange, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and kirsch, whisky gingercake, chocolate and cherry, citrus and chocolate and strawberry. And I can do loads of flavours of icing for you to decorate them with [even silver and gold icings with real silver and gold in them] and fillings to go between the layers.
But I can't carry it to the party.

*falls over in cakeular anticipation*
*mumbles weakly from the floor*
I'll carry it...

Oh, Ragnar, you silly!
Of course you can have a 'liver and tripe' cake. ...er, and we will give you your own 'spechul' table for it...[at the opposite end of the room from the rest of the cakes]

Fab work everyone - now can I get you to do some more:
It is now only three days til the virtual party (yippee!) and many thanks to all
those of you who have helped us prepare but now we need your help. I am about to
build the virtual party page and we want you to build pages that we can link to
it. I am going to build a greenhouse because that is where I am usually found
at parties (don't ask!). Please can you think of a room suitable for the party, build it
and give me the URL and I will advertise it on the Virtual Party Page! We need a
kitchen, a bar, disco....... we leave it up to you!
