I have been singing this one to children at school. However, I have totally forgotten the ending. I hope someone out there can help me. Here is most of it:
I had the Scarlet Fever
I had it very bad
They wrapped me in a blanket
And put me in a van
The van was very bumpy
I nearly tumbled out
And when I got to the hospital
I heard the children shout
....... ..... ..... ....
Does anyone know the rest of it?
Many thanks

I had the Scarlet Fever
I had it very bad
They wrapped me in a blanket
And put me in a van
The van was very bumpy
I nearly tumbled out
And when I got to the hospital
I heard the children shout
Mama Dada take me home
From this little rusty home
I've been here a year or two
And now I want to go home with you
Here comes doctor Doctor Brown
Looking up and looking down
Are you here or are you not
Yes I am you silly clot
Here come Doctor Clanister (something like that)
Sliding down the banister
I can't remember the rest

This is the complete version I grew up with!
Scarlet Fever!
I had the scarlet fever, I had it very bad,
They wrapped me up in a blanket and put me in a van,
The van was very shaky, I nearly tumbled out,
And when I got to the top of the hill, I heard the children shout,
Mummy Daddy take me home,
From this convelescant home,
I've been here a week or two
And now I wish to be with you,
In comes the nurse with a red hot poltice
Slaps it on and takes no notice
Ouch, says the patient, that's too hot,
Oh, said the nurse, I'm jolly sure it's not,
Don't believe her, scarlet fever,
The nurse said it was true,
In the middle of the night, when the fleas began to bite,
Itchy coo, itchy coo!
I'm telling Mum, when I get home,
The boys won't leave the girls alone
They pull their hair and kiss them so,
I'm telling Mum, when I get home,
See that boy, who winks his eye,
He says I love him, but he tells a lie,
His hair won't curl, his boots won't shine,
He hasn't any money, so he won't be mine!

I was sent from London to Northaw convalescent home in 1956 aged 6 and stayed for 6 months because they weren't sure what was wrong with me, possibly child neglect. Finally after 6 months they agreed I had asthma and allowed me to go home.
In bed at night in our Nightingale style ward we used to sing:
"I had the scarlet fever, I had it very bad,
They wrapped me in a blanket and put me in a van.
They took me to the station and put me on the train,
But when I got to Northaw I heard a patient say:
Mummy, daddy take me home
From this Convalescent Home.
I’ve been here a week or two,
Now I want to be with you".
We used to change it to 'a month or two' or 'a year or two'. I don't remember any other verses. Parents weren't allowed to visit at all for the first month, then for just one hour once a fortnight- apparently parents visiting disrupted ward discipline and made children upset. One nurse was left in charge of each floor of the building at night there were no education facilities and no telly except in the Matron's flat. Some children with TB and polio had been there for 2 years.

I think the earlier posts got it right. It's a much older song.My mother sang it to us and she learnt it in a diptheria/isolation hospital in the late 1920s .There were a series of lines or chorus.I recognise odd bits from the last posting.
Mummy,Daddy,take me home
From this fever hospital.
I've been here a week or two.
Now I want to go with you.
Here comes Nurse with a red hot poultice
Slaps it on and takes no notice
Here comes Dr Canister
Sliding down the bannister.
