But I want a second 'phoneline installed in our house, so I'm going to have to pay attention..... theres no way my mother will do it all, much as I may wish....

I'd love to have a cable connection back home. But even though we get cable TV, we don't have a cable connection, and our phone connection seriously limits our modem speed... the modem is 58K, but the phone won't let us get past 26K.

I get 44k tops, according to the liar that is my computer, from my 56k modem. atm its 42, though.
We couldn't have had cable at our old house, it wasn't a "serviceable location". But we could here; having moved into a more affluent area there are cable points in the street.... I *shall* arrange for my house to have cable. One day. I *will*.

S'pose it'd been 43? how different would all our lives be then? or not at all?

I guess you're never told what would have happened.
BTW what was that book called where you found one character slagging another off? if you can remember.

Well, as it's for class and I've got an essay due on it this week, I'd better remember! "The Gates of Ivory" by M. Drabble

Interestingly enough my mother doesn't like the author. however, next time i go to the library will probably be a long time hence, by which time in lots of probability I will've forgotten.
