Thank you for splicing my entry with Tinkicker. Know this has occour shall I unsubbmit the original? Also, what about the 'lovely city of Grey' paragraph. This was included so the entru would not be bias for Hull. Hull certainly is no a perfect city, the recent football violence of our losing side supporters show just what Hull's bad reputation is fed by!
Just a thought,
Slarti!

You don't need to unsubmit the original, that will stay there and still come up in searches
The text colours had to go I'm afraid as there is currently a set 'format' that Approved Guide entries follow, so it all looks similar and such.

Yeah,
But what about all the other mentioned stuff? (See above forum posts)

Hi Slarti, no you're not talking to yourself, I've just been very busy recently.
Going back to the merging now though...
I think I left out the city of grey bit because, although as you say it's to make the article unbiased, I don't think that it was at all biased anyway. I think most people will notice greyness anyway. I've never been to Hull myself although, believe it or not, I keep meaning to pop up there. The greyness itself could be seen by some to be a redeaming feature, some people actually findd that sort of architecture quite enchanting. If it's done well, then it can look good.
I left out the bit about the yobs because that was an isolated incident that tarnished the name of the city, as you said. Just because it happened once doesn't mean it's likely to happen again. Each city has it's off moments and I personally don't think that they reflect truely on the cities themselves. So I left it out. After all, if we were to mention all the similar incidents in places like London and New York we wouldn't have any space in the Guide for anything else.
I hope that's answered some of your queries If I've missed any then just let me know, although it may take me up to a week to answer them at the moment

You should have got a reply about the chess a few days ago.
Also, we don't get the names of authors, just article numbers. We could look them up, but hey, I'm lazy

When I log in to chess and use 'create new match' I just get the title and the 'disscuss entry' bit. (I am also currently looking for someone to play)

Just discovered this article, and although it's nice to see something reasonably positive about Hull, I must say this, slowly, in words of one syllable: THERE IS NO SUCH PLACE AS HUMBERSIDE! IT WAS DONE AWAY WITH 4 YEARS AGO!!!
There are also a couple of other inaccuracies. There are no hyphens in the name of Kingston upon Hull. The (excellent) pub you refer to in Beverley is "Nellie's", not "Durty Nellie's", which is in the city centre. The actual name of the pub is "The White Horse". It used to be kept by three sisters, the eldest of whom was called Nellie, and was the licensee. Hence it has always been referred to as "Nellie's", and is a brilliant place, with the original gas lighting still in use.
Apart from the above mentioned, not a bad effort.

What's more, the editors rely on you to get your facts right, and you haven't I'm afraid.

a) Jeez, will you lot stop whinging...
b) Anyone raised the fact that it cost hundreds of thousands of £'s to change the name back (Humberside wasn't broke, so why fix it?).
c) From my experience travellling around these isles, I'd say that our beloved 'Ull isn't that bad in comparison to other cities...

To be absolutedly pedantically accurate, you (or whoever) actually got at least three rather large facts wrong.
