What clunky old thing h2g2 had fixed do you miss?

I would have said the "Server too busy!" page, but that came back to see us over the past couple of days.

That was quite nice, bit of nostalgia never hurt anyone.

Oh this new fangly 20 posts a page thing makes it soooo easy to make a long thread.

Dial up! Wow. I moved to Broadband around 2002 and have been too scared to switch suppliers ever since.

You don't have to switch supplier to be screwed over. Try moving house.

Getting a broadband connection moved across from one house to another even without switching supplier is a lesson in frustration, futility and anger management.
I was cut off from the internet for nearly six weeks when I bought my current house in 2010.

It's much easier and swifter if you're with BT though apparently. I wonder why that might be

Your so lucky... I live in a city... and we don't get BT (OK we do but its only like a really really slow broadband, so we're forced to go with virgin... who of course charge twice as much as anyone else it seems )

I miss my T1 Lan connection I had at uni

Every now and then Opera (I browse h2g2 in Firefox, but use Opera for most other things) tells me I'm on a really slow connection and need Opera Turbo, but things seems speedy enough for me most of the time.

Oh, you've probably got a decent exchange... It just seems BT can't be bothered to update the exchange here, as NTL (now Virgin), have a bit of a hold on the city as it was established here and providing broadband long before BT did

The workings of ADSL broadband are muddy and complicated, but when you come down to it it's mostly BT's fault
