HR did not illustrate Rip van Winkle but did do some gift books later on. Perhaps it should read:

"Heath Robinson started illustrating gift books in 1908. In the..."

If you want to keep the Rip van Winkle reference, try a footnote to gift book like:
"Gift Book - a lavishly illustrated classic, the first of which was Rip van Winkle, published in 1905"

Otherwise OK.
