Today in 1871 at Ujiji a village close to Lake Tanganyika, Central Africa Henry Morton Stanley meets David Livingstone and greets him with those now famous words "Dr Livingstone, I presume".
These are the sort of people who need to be better remembered for this was no easy feat. Africa was still largely unexplored and there was a good chance that the unwary traveller to become lion fodder.
So as its not possible now to buy them a pint, to their memory

Did you know that Livingstone's great-granddaughter Diana married legendary stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen? He designed a statue of Livingstone which they erected up in Scotland somewhere.
