Some one should really write an article about nerf guns along these lines, they are great, I got one for my kid brother the other day and have been attacking my friends with it ever since smiley - smiley

Can you explain to me what nerf means. I understand english but I am not familiar with this word.
Further I want to add that I don't like it when someone tries to shoot my sigaret out of my mouth.

'Nerf' are a company... or a trademark, or something. Anyway, a nerf gun is a gun which fires projectiles made chiefly of foam or some other fairly soft substance. A truly terrifying arsenal of such weapons is available, from hand held to ridiculously big. They are, as has been pointed out, absolutely fantastic fun.

Also good fun is - get this - the Nerf computer game. In a similar vein to Unreal Tournament and Quake III - except less blood and more nerf guns - it's actually rather good... it's based on the Unreal Tournament game engine, or so I've heard.

Thank you for explaining. It sounds like fun to me. I will visit the nearest toystore to look for it.
Do you play this game on internet or is it available on cd.

I've got the Nerf big bad bow, kinda like a cross bow type thing which fires foam arrows, next I'm after the nerf triple shot, three shots at once has gotta be good! smiley - smiley

I've seen these really cool waterguns which are in the shape of tools (e.g. spanners) and which squirt water from a well-concealed hole in the side. They're brilliant!

Yeah, that's the classic Clown number: Water out of plastic flowers or stuff like that. Actually it is more fun with permanent colour on costly suits...
To return to the water pistols: I'm 22, and last Summer we (a couple of friends and I robbed some from my little nephews...) It was a really great funny water battle! I'm already looking forward to do it this summer again!!! But we use only simple cheap ones. These big monster things ruin actually the fun, because they are just too powerful: no real run-and-hide but only savage shooting at security distance.

*shoves her hands on her hips* And isn't that just the problem with ALL guns these days? Heck, I remember when we had face-to-face revolver standoffs...we called em' "duels". None o' this "mass murder" crap, only one guy cacked it.

Um.... no, I'm kidding. smiley - smiley I've never even touched a gun, even though I was engaged to a marine. Hatefull things. Water guns filled with water and food coloring and everybody in white painters outfits is a fun time though. smiley - smiley It's also a good way to relieve family tension.

Penguin Girl - returned at last

Hmmm, maybe I should get my mom's family to try that.....

When I was 8 or so years old, my best friend and I would always attack our 13 yearold neigbor with waterguns. We weren't being cruel; half the time he started it. He would attack back with his hose and later his guns. After a few battles we began to engage the neigbors as supply carriers. Ah, those were the days.....

I allways thought that water ballons were alway more fun than the gun, we'd go after each other w/ the ballons and use a little water pistol for backup.

Hi I'm 30 and still have a supply of water guns for those hot summer's days. Which being in Ireland are rare so we have to make the most of them smiley - smiley

The thing about water balloons is that you have to play on grass. If you play anywhere near dirt or debris it's guaranteed that your opponant will wing the balloon as hard as (s)he can so that it hits the debris right at your feet, causing splashback that covers you with clumps of dirt, mud, wood chips and/or small rocks.

I must say I found waterballons always very nasty and unfair (mainly because I wasn't a good thrower...) so I'd rather stay with the guns. By the way, did your weapons also go bust so quickly for whatever reason (during my childhood [and until now...] I bought at least a dozen of them...)

Yup, I've still got a box of the little things. I added a battery powered one about 6 or so years ago, but I've still got a bunch of small unreliable leaky ones. Some look like space guns and one looks like a six shooter.smiley - bigeyes

This is getting further and further off topic... never mind smiley - smiley...

You have to buy the Nerf game on CD, but you can play it on the internet or at LAN Parties (there's an article on LAN Parties in the Guide that's well worth a look, well, it should be, I wrote it smiley - smiley).

It's probably more fun if you get some *real* nerf guns, though. It just means your PC won't be able to join in the fun smiley - smiley.

Off Topic. Let me see.

No. Water ballon are linked to the main topic and don't thinj this is a major deviation.

However the history of the trans siberian highway, has to the best of my knowledge no link whatsoever with waterguns, or nerf guns so if you want some major topic drift I could get it going. smiley - winkeye

We are fascinated!!!!!

Are you in the UK? If so, are these things available in most toy shops?

'Cos we WANT one.... or two.....

I can only assume they don't leave whopping great bruises like paintballs do, which is still ridiculously
good fun, specially if you are trying to keep your street cred as a pacifist!
