Me? I visited Sarah in Stoke again last weekend, and on my way back my train was 21 hours late. Yes - I had intended to arrive back on Sunday at 10, yet didn't get back until 6:30 on Monday. They had cancelled train after train, and I was trapped at Birmingham for 3 hours.smiley - grr
But it was good to see Sarah. smiley - biggrin

Oh my God!!! I know the trains are bad but that is stupid. Ive been stuck at Birmingham before, its not a nice place is it?!?! It wasn't Virgin trains by any chance was it?!

I probabl;y wont be able to write much for a while because the school has ANOTHER virus (planted by the people that fixed the last one!!) so it could be forever til thats fixed.

I have to go because Claire wants to use the computer now....

BYE!!!

No, Birmingham isn't the nicest of towns in the UK - I spent my time wandering around in HMV, Forbidden Planet and CEX (Computer Exchange - one of the few places you can get Mega Drive games from).

And yes, it was Virgin Trains. As it was a bank holiday, only half the normal amount of trains were running, and the first one arrived in Birmingham about 35-40 minutes late, I got on it, and it stayed in the platform an hour before we were told that it had broken down completely. The next train was also about 45 minutes late. It's all very amusing - but I got some refund vouchers from Virgin for £17, so it's not too bad.

This week I've not been doing much - exams coming up!smiley - yikes Help!

Hi.

Tell me about it, I have exams coming up too. In two weeks actually! God, I hate this feeling leading up to them. I'm nervouse but most of all I want it to be over because I can't be bothered so I want them to be done and behind me.

A £17 voucher isn't bad, although not very useful concidering it is for Virgin Trains. They only seem to run up north and are less than reliable IF they do run at all!!

I know how you feel - I just want the exams to go away, I really don't care how I do in them. Well, I do in that I'd be disappointed if I failed, but they are an inconvenience in the way of my life, they're not actually my life at all. Hope you know what I mean!

The big news for this week is that on Friday a few of my friends from the Island are coming over to Southampton to visit me, which I'm really looking forward to. Two of them have never been to Southampton before, so I plan to give them the tour. I think they'll enjoy it, and I know I'm definately looking forward to seeing them. smiley - smiley

That sounds fun. I hope you have a good time, and I hope they have a good time too!

I know what you mean about the exams, don't worry! I think the same thing about mine. At least you don't live with parents that nag you to do more revising ALL the time. Its getting on my nerves.

My friends and I are trying to think of some sort of prank to pull on the last day (I know it's childish but you have to don't you?! It's the law!) but we aren't very imaginative. The best we have come up with is putting toilet roll over everything, like trees and cars etc. Do you have any ideas?! It can't be too drastic because our school is pretty strict on that sort of thing and they would probably ban us from the exams or something!!

I remember that on our last day of term, one of our friends whose Dad worked for an estate agents brought in lots of "For Sale" signs and put them round the school, and then someone phoned up to ask if they could buy it! That was amusing. Apart from that, wearing our ties around our heads, and the obligatory water/egg/flour fights (that I avoided - well, not the water.) we didn't really do anything.

I guess it helps if you know the school - is there a statue or gate or something that something can be put on top of, etc?

Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!! That made me laugh!! We don't know anyone with connections like that... At the end of year 11 we put a teachers car in the paper for sale for £20 and a few people called!!! That was quite funny.

There tends to be a lot of shirt signing at our school. The egg/flour fights aren't really a thing here. Although the school down the road do that. The current year 11s are plotting something but they wont say what (my brother is in that year, and a load of my friends siblings so we're trying to find out.) The only thing I have heard is that they are going to put Laxatives in the drinks at a party the teachers are throwing for them and then not drink any so only the teachers suffer. But I don't reckon they will have the guts!! Especially as it is organised by the Head in his garden...

AH - seems like trying to sell off the teachers is a popular gag smiley - winkeye
And I'd forgotten the shirt signing! Yes, there was a lot of that, except that I didn't want my shirt signed, and nor did I sign anyone elses shirt - I wasn't asked to.
As it was a running gag between me and my form tutor that each morning I'd draw a giant smiley - fish on the blackboard at the start of each day, and he'd rub it off, but at several points during the day I would redraw it just to annoy him, I wrote "So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish" on the board on the last day, and naturally he got the reference.
But I took loads of photos, and had a last-day school photo and a few other cheesy things. And got a free cake!

That's typical humans for you! Tell them something, like you don't want to be photographed, and please would they point that water pistol at someone else, and what do they do? smiley - winkeye
So, how was your week? I had a really great time yesterday when my friends came and visited - I can honestly say it was a perfect day - not a single thing went wrong, or disappointed, or even wasn't perfect. The only bad bit was saying goodbye.
I guess I'm a sentimentalist - I miss my old friends I went to school with, and I've never felt more flattered when when they said they wanted to come and visit.

I now Im going to miss my friends like crazy, they are all so great!! I know Ill make new friends at university and all that but at least for a while it wont be the same because my friends and I have developed a unique brand of sense of humour and there are so many in jokes etc, it will be strange trying to have such a good laugh with anyone else. Does that make sense?!

This is my last Monday in school!! Woo hoo!! I had my last friday last week and after this thursday, I wont have to go to school anymore!!!! Woo hoo!! I know there is uni, but I don't count that as quite the same thing.

I know what you mean - especially about the in-jokes. That's one of the worries I have when two groups of my friends meet for the first time, inevitably a slightly different sense of humour has developed - everyone has different interests, and there are references to things done as a group in the past that the other group, not having been there, don't know about. In some ways it makes me feel like a chameleon, changing who I am slightly to be with which group I'm with - but so far, everyone has got on well.

And I'm surprised about how much I still enjoy my old school friend's company. I was afraid that I'd leave them behind - well, to be honest, that they'd leave ME behind - and that we wouldn't get on, we'd grow apart with the years. And yes, it is true that some people I enjoyed talking to I haven't seen or spoken to since school. But all the people I care about I've stayed in touch with, and seeing them is something to really look forward to, and it makes doing something as simple as talking about the weather with them now seem so really enjoyable.

There are always news friends to have, but those who have known you since childhood are always dearer.

And no, Uni and school are COMPLETELY different smiley - tongueout
