You can imbue links in your user entries by using the following code:
(This code assums that you are linking to h2g2-just add the page you want ot link after this)

Any idea how to get smileys to appear as smiley faces in an article? Just typing : - ) (without spaces of course) doesn't seem to work.

You need to use some HTML to use the simbols in user pages
To get smiley - smiley use
To get smiley - winkeye use
To get smiley - sadface use
To get smiley - bigeyes use
To get smiley - fish use

I hope this helps.

To get the image to need to use <IMG SRC="images/f_bigeyes.gif"></IMG>
I think you may have missed off the <IMG part.

I managed to get a smiley on my page in a journal entry by only typing smiley - smiley. So just when I thought I had it sorted I now think I don't. None of the other faces seem to work ( like 8=) ).

See, I did it again by just typin : - ) without any spaces. In both cases it was typed at the start of a new line but surely that can't be the reason. Let me try again.

There are a limited number of smileys on the system at the moment - namely smiley - smileysmiley - sadfacesmiley - bigeyessmiley - winkeyesmiley - fish
See the Smiley article on my home page for details. To put smileys on user pages (as opposed to fora) you have to use HTML, see StevenR above in this forum.

I think your picture already has to be on a web page and that site I told you about should tell you how to create a link to that picture.

Have a look at 'Club H2G2 FAQ' page, as it will help. Better still, leave a posting so it gets onto the front page list. smiley - fish
