Today was a day that featured a bit of organized weirdness..
At 1400 EST, our government tested it's ability to use our Emergency Alert System in an effective fasion. The EAS is broadcast on local radio and TV stations across the U.S. at least once per month, but usually under the control of state and city agencies. Today, FEMA and Homeland Security held the reins for 3 minutes...and there was no recognizable difference that I could see or hear.
Two and a half hours later, my class instructor announced that in actuality, there was supposed to be some sort of "terror attack" drill going on...I do believe she may've been fibbing. Quite frankly, I do believe that our little part of Los Angeles would be ignored by terrorists...just my guess, however.
Anyway...all's well here...

Does the fact no-one noticed any difference mean the test failed then or was it a case of everyone knew it was going to happen and ignored it anyway?

As I see it..a deuced combination of both.
We've had many opportunities to improve our readiness at my school..but a mixture of apathy amongst the student population and inadequate preparation take the out of anything planned.

I imagine that you get sort of lazy (that's not exactly the word I'm looking for) if those tests happen frequently.

Good enough selection, Bel....
It'll be interesting to see what happens when the hits the proverbial fan.

Everybody will panic despite all those exercises and fake alarms.

Most likely,yes...and then if we survive that...then we have to deal with massive civil rioting outside....
