we lived 3 years in downtown sf (the 'loin) and although the city is famous for its gay community, i didn't feel the city was any gayer than paris, london, or fresno, but maybe i wasn't paying attention. in any case i don't see why this would be "important" information for tourists. unless of course they didn't REALLY come for the cable cars...
