Gnomon - time to move on

A521966

I've made the following changes and corrections to this entry.

not as much of a theorem as it was a conjecture --> not so much a theorem as a conjecture

I've completely removed this footnote, as it is completely untrue:

"In fact, Pierre de Fermat was the first mathematician to consider whole numbers - integers as such; all previous work had focused on rational numbers."

I've replaced it with:

Number theory is the mathematics of whole numbers.

a,b,c --> a, b, c

a number which can only be divided with 1 or themselves --> a number which can only be divided by 1 or itself

that was to be awarded the first person --> that was to be awarded to the first person

counterexample --> counter-example

"Trying to work this out led to integrals that the mathematicians of the time were unable to work out" -- changed the second "work out" to "evaluate".

wherefore they did as most mathematicians do -- whereupon they did as most mathematicians do
