Anyone want a game?
Ed Posted Oct 25, 2002
You can be
OK second move c5
(By the way, how's this?
tan(90-45)=tan45=1
and
tan(90-45)=(tan90-tan45)/(1+tan90tan45)
therefore (tan90-tan45)/(1+tan90tan45)=1
therefore tan90-1=1+tan90
therefore 0=2
I did it myself, but it may have been done before)

That's great, as long as the person you're explaining it to doesn't ask you what tan90 actually is!

OK pawn to d6
I was trying to work out what tan90 was at the time (even though I already knew it's just anything divided by 0)

umm...lets see.
By the way, power = work done divided by time taken, right?
Knight to c6

Power = work done / time taken, that's correct, yes.
Hmm, let me see.
Knight to c3? Yeah, why not.

....Then I think your web page is wrong I think. With the knowledge is power and all that.
And I also don't get the limit-all-the-stuff-with-the-sine-equals-6. Can you get it with high school maths??
OK, I might as well lose the game an try queen to A5
Anyone want a game?
me[Andy]g Posted Nov 7, 2002
Oops, yes it is!
Should end up with money = work / knowledge and then let knowledge tend to zero for a small amount of work, giving an infinite amount of money!
The "limit = 6" thing is a joke, cancel the n's (including the one in "sin") and you get "six". Our 1st year maths degree calculus lecturer thought it was hilarious.
Hohum, queen to a5. Interesting...

Ok, maybe I need to be explained what f(x,n) denotes.
(I only know what f(x) is)
well......bishop to e6
sorry 'bout the wait
Anyone want a game?
me[Andy]g Posted Nov 11, 2002
No problem about the wait, I'm not usually online that much at weekends anyway.
f(x) means a function with one variable - in this case, x. All f(x,n) would mean is a function of two variables - x and n.
Bishop to e6... hmm, ok then, bishop on c4 takes bishop on e6.
