A Conversation for Talking Point: Acquired Taste

As a small child I was greatly afraid of the little yellow-marbled balls of green, thinking them to look much like the earth looked from outer space... but way more toxic in both look and taste. I had tried them once or twice, and decided that they were just plain evil little things and I would never touch one ever ever ever again!
It was only a few months ago that I ate one on a dare and I thought my head would explode, but twenty seconds later the heat had torn through my mouth and left again, and all that was left was a slight feeling of triumph and a little saltiness. Now they are one of my favorite treats for myself.
