Well done Real Madrid smiley - applause

You've turned a £9milion profit on the sale of your fifth string striker. And he's gone to someone who is of no threat to you in the Champions League this year, or next in all probability.

That is a sensational bit of business!

Being something of a huge fan of Spanish footy and having watched Madrid at least 20 times last season I cannot help feeling a bit sorry for Michael Owen.

He was IMHO probably the best striker at the club last season. Ronaldo scored more goals but had loads more starts and minutes on the pitch. Raul has been frankly poor for two years now, at any normal club (eg one where the *manager* picked the team, and did so on merit) Raul would surely have been the fifth choice striker.

From what I understand Owen is being seen as anything but a failure by the Real fans and press, who despite a frosty start to the relationship are genuinly sorry to see him go.

Still, I like to watch players like Michael Owen so it will be good to see him in the Premiership once more.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what the acronym, "DMF", represents in this instance. I can think of several alternatives, and none of them terribly complimentary!

Championship Manager, a moderatly succesfull football management sim that is more addictive than crack cocaine. Often shortened by fans to either "champ" or "champ man", despite the fact that the lates "proper" versions are now confusingly called "football manager".

Sorry GD I thought I had been involved in a Championship Manager discussion with you in the past, I see now I must have confused you with someone else.

smiley - sorry

That's alright smiley - smiley

I don't have much to do with video games (a phrase that shows my age straight away smiley - winkeye) these days. I greatly enjoyed Defender when it first came out. But then I watched my mates pump the whole of their summer wages into that machine and its like, and I lost interest pretty damn quick.
