VSC: So is Premiership football pretty much dead then?

Post 1

Secretly Not Here Any More

Attendances are down everywhere outside of the big 4 and some of the promoted teams, less goals seem to be scored every season, there's never really any upsets and people are claiming that Alan Curbishley's the messiah.

Is it really as bad as all that in the top flight? Have we brave souls watching the lower leagues really got it better than the shiny rich boys at the top?

Just a thought...

Is this a desperate attempt to get more people to go to Elland Road?

You honestly think I'm that sadistic?

I've just been hearing lots of people slagging off the PL for a variety of reasons, lack of excitement, predictability, ludicrous prices, Sky over-hyping everything, etc, so I was wondering if anyone had any views.

And some sections of the media. The tabloids seem to think he'd be a better England boss than McNugget despite the fact the latter's actually seen Europe once. As for fans, every managerless club since the start of the season have been praying for him. Trust me, I heard the poor fools at ER a couple of times too...

Nope.

Earlier this season Gretna beat the team now in second Partick away 6-0.

Last week Partick beat Ross County 5-2 again away.

This is the same Ross County who have beaten Gretna in the Challenge Cup but also beaten Dundee 1-0.

The team that beat my very own Livingston away 3-2 (say day at our place).

Who only the other weekend beat fellow title chasers St. Johnston 2-1 at their place.

The Perth Team who stuffed Queen of the South 5-0 in October.

That's Queen of the South that in the last two weeks have made 4th place Hamilton and second place Partick come from behind in the last 12 minutes to earn a point. Who beat Clyde 4-2.

That's Clyde who are the who a few weeks back beat Hamilton 2-1.

Who in turn beat Aidrie United 2-1.

The team that from the bottom stuffed Gretna 4-2 last weekend.

I admit there have been a number of draws, 23 to be precise but the top 7 in a ten team league are split by only 10 points. No other league of that size is that close this far in.

The Championship certainly seems to be tight again, though its often not pretty - then again I've watched Revie's Leeds, Saunders' Villa, Carlisle, Swansea and plenty of other tat in the top league.
