How do I block the internet for a user in XP home? Just one user, not all of them. Is it possible, even?

Same PC as you, or on a different PC ?

Same PC, two different users. One (this one) the administrator.

In that case, I'm not sure, I bet my husband knows ( he knows all those perfide things to torture his family with), but right now, he doesn't talk to me, so I can't ask him

How net savvy is said person? Could you simply get away with deleting the IE icon, then hiding the address bars?
Would be dead easy under xp pro (a simple change of file security permissions), but as it's xp cheap and nasty edition I think your a bit bleeped.

Yeah, even I could do it under XP pro...
I've deleted all useful icons, unfortunately, the network icon still comes up, so the user still knows that it can be accessed. If that didn't show, it'd be ok.

Go into network connections, find the network adaptor in question and remove the tick next to "show icon when connected"?

I'm not 100% sure but you could give this a try...
Log on to the administrator account.
Start - Control Panel - Network Connections
Right click your internet connection and select 'disconnect' if you are connected to the internet.
Right click your internet connection and select 'connect'.
In the connect dialog box change the radio button from 'anyone who uses this computer' to 'me only'. (Note doing this may wipe out your password details for your internet access. Make certain that you know what these are in case you have to re-input them - you have been warned!)
That should, in thoery, give internet access to the Admin account only.

This might be a dim question:
Can't you do it on the Program Access and Defaults menu?

Program access and defaults is a generalised tool, at least in xp home, for all users.

Croz - is it possible in XP Home to set the DNS server (or whatever it is) on that account to 127.0.0 so that all outgoing connections are looped back to the PC?
Not Him - do you need to restrict *all* internet access on that account, or could you use something like this? http://www.tucows.com/preview/320513

IP settings tend to be global so for this purpose it's probably not suitable.
That parental control doobry is probably closer to the mark for the task in hand.
Of course if it was a separate PC and you had a spare linux box lying around for use as a proxy server, you could have endless fun like this:

I'd be happiest with no internet, It's quite hard to access as it is: no shortcuts unless you make them yourself, no obvious signs it's connected... you have to go into C:\ to get to it.
Parental controls, lovely as they are, are fallible, and miht have different ideas from mine as to what is objectionable.

HOw is the internet accessed thru that machine?
Broadband? dialup?
Either option?
Just remove the connecting canles to the modems.
No-one gets to use the internet if you keep the cables with you.
Simple solutions are always the best.

When i was younger, and got into a little trouble, my parents decided they didn't want me on the internet. so, they just banned me from the computer all together by giving everyone the password to the user account but me. then, if i needed the computer for school, or whatever other reason, they typed in the password for me (so that i still didn't know it) and then watched me like a hawk. but perhaps, that is too harsh for your situation.

Eat some beans and blow a long fart,
capture it an' if it tastes so tart.
Skin it quick and without delay,
send it rapidly on it's way.
Send it in care of the bloke so pale,
who on this page is want to wail.
"How do I block this page from view"
"cos ah'm on it nah an' 'ave stuffed it fer you
Ah! the joys of being inept an' crude,
Sometimes I would fain an' be just as rude.
But I will settle for being the Joker,
who offers him a seat on a red hot poker. :0)
