bang!thwack!gronk!
To cheer myself up, I decided to go to a guitar shop & see what instrumentation was available for the southpaw with a disposable income.
Generally the selection on offer is less than spectacular, at least at prices that appeal to my former-Northern Doleboy tendencies, but with bog all else to do at lunchtime I decided to have a shufty.
There are several guitar shops in Canterbury, one of which is well within striding range of w*rk, so forth I sallied.
As expected there were not that many leftie axes to be had. A couple of guitars (including a secondhand Squier Strat with an alarming case of fret-buzz on the B-string) and two basses, one about £360 and the other, a P-Bass copy for about £140. As the musical equivalent of a BMX, something to thrash about on, bumping up & down kerbs, the cheapo bass appealed greatly.
So I bought it, a padded gig-bag and a strap. Got it home, slung it as low as the strap would allow, plugged it into my Z**m effects processor, inserted headphones and went on an odyssey of low-frequency strangeness.
Joy unbridled...

Excellent. You do realise you've regressed 15 years? Back to birds and basses. Still, yuo seem quite chipper!

Oh & I think I forgot to mention the other day, I've been asked to join a band!
Somewhere between Evanescence & Cradle of Filth. This could get weird...
Key: Complain about this post
