Another one of Calroth's articles. This one HAS to make it into the Edited Guide for Christmas, but then that's just my opinion.

*laughs* great entry - but perhaps, given the difficulty the "god" entry and suchlike have had, there should be a "some people think" in there?
It'd be nice to mix it in with the classic disproof of Santa (burning up in the atmosphere) - that way there'd be initial concern, then a gloriously happy ending - perfect xmas story...

The only problem is that I haven't seen the researcher who did the article around for a while, as if they have vanished into thin air. Therefore it would be difficult for me to edit the article. But I'm sure that any reasonable sub editor could think of something apposite to put in if Calroth doesn't appear soon to add the suggestions.

Makes me feel quite Christmassy!...
There's a bit of discussion from Administrator-General, below the actual entry, on Multi-actual Santa..maybe AG could make an entry concerning explanations for Santa....
Just a thought

Now that Christmas is over, I dare to have a more serious look at this Entry. I don't think it's Edited Guide material. It's written about fiction (sorry, Santa fans), not fact, and it reminds me of the many "Santa proofs" you can read around the web.
I propose to sinbin it due to a breach of the "fact not fiction" guideline.

Has Calroth been informed of the existance of this thread? It doesn't look like it... *sigh*
I disagree with Jeremy - this may need a little rewording in places to make it more obviously based on fact, but no more...
After all, the *concept* of Santa clearly exists - and we have entries on other fictional entities (eg, The Good Luck Fairy).
Normally I'd suggest a move to the workshop - but since Calroth appears ignorant of the existance of this thread, I feel that we should give him a little time to read the comments here and make the (fairly small) changes needed. A couple of weeks should be ample.

I did an entry on a very similair subject, actually referencing this on and had it deleted by "anna" dep-ed for breach of copywrite!
And IMHO my entry was far better, and more rounded and conclusive, and I don't think a copywrite actually erxisted!
*thinks about reposting it!*
Goes away funing!

I've written an update and bugfix of Calroth's entry at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A535853
I think this fixes the fact/fiction guideline - but I'd like to know what y'all think...

I've said it before. Then it got lost, so I'll say it again.
I think Multi-Actual Santa is a better theory than Stretchy Santa. Not only does one Santa in many places explain how Santa makes his rounds on Christmas Eve, it also accounts for all those Santa-like creatures that one can observe at the shopping malls.

Sadly, the multi-actual thread is still in moderation, or I'd have included it and dubbied the entry "Santa Theories"... If you'd like to repost, feel free

I've added edited highlights of the santa disproof (but not copied it word for word because of this copyright issue), and I've included both the Love Theory and the No Good Children Theory.

Small typo to mention 'so you show your car how much' Maybe "you care" is what you wanted!

I like the idea of a "Santa Theories" entry. Whether or not Santa actually exists, theories about him certainly do. That should take care of that perceived "fact/fiction" problem.
So, I'll add one more theory: Teleporting Santa. Let's assume Santa has 2 billion people to give presents to on Christmas Eve. Let's also assume that these people are distributed evenly over 12 time zones. That makes 167 million people for Santa to visit per hour, or 46,300 per second. Obviously if he used air transport to get to that many chimneys per second, the flying reindeer would lay down sonic booms and keep the children awake. Therefore, Santa must teleport.
Of course, when we're past the teleportation problem, Santa's still awfully busy on Christmas Eve. That's why I still think it takes Multi-Actual Santa to get the job done.

Nice Theory abot the sonic booms A-G, but isn't that what the jingle bells are there to disguise?

Administrator-General (5+0+9)*3+0 Posted Apr 23, 2001
Okay, you got me. I figured the jingle bells were to cover up the "pop" of outrushing air when Santa teleports into a room. But I can't prove it, can I.
