1. Drink a couple of pints of water to rehydrate.
2. Eat something.
3. Stay in bed attempting to sleep until you feel you can get up. If you followed point two then you needn't get up for food until noon.
Also, keep some water by you bed, preferably in a container, in case you need some extra rehydration.
Never go for "hair of the dog" as all this does is delay the hangover.

A friend of mine had a three part plan that worked for him.
1) Make yourself vomit
2) Evacuate your bowels
3) Take two paracetemol
This didn't entirely work when I did it, but seemed to perk him up every time.

I would advise against Paracetemol. Check out the link I have placed under the "Raw Eggs" thread to the New Scientist Hangover research. As paracetemol affects the liver, which is busy cleaning all the alcohol it is deemed by some to be a bad idea to give it more crap to do.
I've always found ibrofren before retiring helps, Lucozade Sports in the morning with soluble pain killers mixed in.
The worse hangovers I have found is when you don't actually stop an dgo to sleep, as they creep up on you. Sometimes at most inconvient moments.
