Having worked in retail for 4 Christmases in the Earlt to mid 90s I have heard every Christmas record hundreds of tiems from the Shop PA system. Therefore why do we still insist on subjected our shop assistants to this physcological warfare?
A post Christmas Retail Trauma Victim.

Start of rant....
When I started in retail 30 years ago, it was my job to set up the reel-to-reel to play all the C#@*&^%$s c**p music, and then change the tape when it ran out. First, the girls in the cash-desk took out the fuse, and then the power lead disappeared. So much for C#@*&^%$s spirit. Then when I worked in the Casino trade, it was continuous for a month. Now working for a major retailer, I hadbeen free of that for the last 16 years, except 'The Powers-That-Be' now want to play music during the shelf-fill period to "make staff feel happy and prepared for a day of C#@*&^%$s retail therapy!!"
I say NO! NO! NO! It depresses people. There is no retail therapy. Leave us alone. If I hear the Sally-Ann play little drummer boy again, they could find a new way of playing a trumpet.
End of rant.....

Even the French Carols?
I've got to admit that years of studying French in high school and college has ruined my ear for X-mas songs. I always hear them in French and start murmuring the words in a foreign tongue and scare folks who happen to notice what I'm doing...
Apparently, it's a real possession vibe.

This is great stuff for playing Singing Defective. Just say Figgy Pudding in the office and see who takes the bait.

I only know one french carol....
Gaude'te, Gaude'te, Christus est natus,
ex Maria virginae, Gaude'te...
Although what Antonio Gaudi's Tea has to do with C#@*&^%$s is beyond me!!!!
And going on about his Ex's virginity?
Not very polite.

*Puts on adjudicators hat. Looks up Slade. Looks up lyrics. Looks up tune. Looks upset*
Did you sing "It's Chrissssssmasssss!?"
Gaudete counts though. Even if it is Latin.
Office Opera at it's best.
As they used to say in Russia when unsure whether it was snowing or raining: Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear.
