Harry was my Uncle, unfortuately I never knew him, I wasn't born until 1951. I was visiting a small town in Kansas called Mound Valley looking for information on relatives. I knew my mothers grandparents Maxwell had lived in Mound Valley. That my father had graduated high school in Mound Valley. I went to the historical Society building and was going through articles hung on the wall when I ran across the story of Mi Amigo. I was in tears. Happy that he gave his life serving his country and sad that I never knew about him. I now tell the story to my children and grandchilden as they should know such a man is a testament to their heritage. Thank you for honoring them and celebrating his life it is touching and honorable.

Hi Vicky
Thanks for your comments. Mi Amigo and her crew inspire the people who discover their story.
I guess you posted here before, at this link?

The version of the Entry above that other conversation is the final edited one (this one is the draft). Below it you'll find other conversations and comments from several other crew families if you're interested.
If you're still looking for the book, I'll try get one - though unfortunately it's now out of print and getting rare. The museum bookshop that stocked it has been closed for nearly a year now, due to flooding.
Thanks again, and you're right to be proud of your uncle. He was a hero, as were so many of his countrymen, and we will always be grateful.

HELLO VICK
MY NAME IS JOYCE ANN, MY UNCLE WAS WITH YOOUR UNCLE ON THE MI AMIGO; HIS NAME IS M/SGT. GEORGE MALCOLM WILLIAMS; HE WAS THE LEFT WAIST GUNNER.
I WAS UNFORTUNATE IN NOT EVER MEETING HIM BUT YET AGAIN I AM VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE A GREAT HERO LIKE HIM IN MY LIFE.
I WAS BORN IN JULY OF 45 A YEAR AFTER THE CRASH. MY FAMILY HAS ALWAYS KEPT HIM ALIVE IN THEIR HEARTS AND SPIRITS; HE STILL IS WITH US EVERY DAY. THROUGH MY GENARATION DOWN THROUGH MY CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN WE ALL STILL TALK ABOUT UNCLE MALCOLM. NOT ONLY AS A HERO BUT AS A BROTHER TO MY MOTHER AND A UNCLE TO ALL OF US.
ITS FUNNY HOW YOU CAN KEEP A LOVED ONE ALIVE WITH ALOT OF LOVE.
I WOULD LOVE TO VISIT WITH YOU MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS [email protected].
YOUR CREW FAMILY MEMBER,
JOYCE ANN
