Hey there! Nice page you have here. Looks like you're really involved with a lot of stuff. So, is this murder game going to be the only chance I'll have to "role-play"? Or is there anything else I should look at?

Sorry for not replying earlier - I was talking to you on your own page and neglected this conversation.
As for role-playing, there are plenty of opportunities. One of the best ones, at the moment, is the thread with the title; "the universe ended as it started ..." or something like that. It is a continuing, collaborative story and is shaping up quite well. Unfortunately, there is quite a lot of backlog that you would have to read to get up to date. There are a couple of other adventures that I am involved with, but they are mostly winding up now. Pretty well all of the adventures that I go on here involve Afgncaap5 - another researcher and a good friend. At the moment, he is trying to limit his h2g2 involvement somewhat, because it is using up his creativity and he doesn't feel like writing once he gets offline - h2g2 has satisfied the urge.
We just finished off a great role-playing adventure - the murder mystery I told you about before. Check out the thread called "Room 013" for the end of that thread. Once there, you can check out some of the other thread on that page (and the page itself) to see how that one worked.
There is also the STUMPED page that you might want to check out. STUMPED is the organization of super villians on h2g2. There is definately room for role-play there. There is also the super hero organization CHOPPERS, if you a inclined to be good instead of evil. I have joined both, actually - GL is good, and Big Bad Werewolf (another h2g2 persona that is really me) is evil. Affy (short for Afgncaap5) has an evil persona too: Krylma Leader. So, you can either choose which you want to be, or you can create another account and then you can be both. To start, it is probably best to just choose one.
Currently, the heroes are battling the villians in order to save the galaxy. The villians have constructed the OmegaMatic, which is modelled on the OmegaMatic from the Commander Keen 5 game. We (the heroes) have battled through, oh, about 6 or 8 levels now but still have to face the last 2 or 3 or so levels. If you wanted to join in as a hero or villian, let me know and I'll try to think of a way to insert you.

Wow. Lot's of stuff going on, I see. I wonder if there's a way for me to avoid making a choice (I tend to avoid choices in real life, why not in cyberspace?). I wonder if I could play as a wildcard, someone not affiliated entirely with either orgainization. Maybe I'll read a little of the thread before picking a side?

Hmmmmm. Not sure how you would do that. In that thread, anyway. It takes place on something floating in space that was constructed by the bad guys. The good guys have broken in and are making their way to the top of the structure in order to destroy it. There isn't really anywhere for a neutral party. If you can think of something, let me know.
I'll be away from now until Sunday, though.

You'll have a LOT of backlog at Lil's when you come back!

Off topic: I just noticed something wrong with the Peer Review banner add at the top of the page: Traffic light goes from Red to Yellow to Green, then the fish on the bicycle goes through. I don't know about the UK and Canada, but in the US it would go dirrectly from Red to Green. Yellow comes between Green (go) and Red (stop) and means "get ready to stop", but is usually interpreted as "slam on the gas pedal so that you can get through the light in time".

You're right! I hadn't noticed that before. I guess whoever wrote that must have really wanted to use the yellow light.
Actually, I think at drag races, they have a series of lights that start with red at the top, then light up in sequence downwards until the green light at the bottom finally goes on and the cars smoke half the rubber off of their tires. Maybe the fish's light is one of those kind.

Don't wish to interrupt an otherwise two-way conversation, but traffic lights in the UK follow the following sequence...
GREEN (Go)
AMBER (Stop, if safe)
RED (STOP)
RED+AMBER (On your marks...)
GREEN (Go)
and so on, with the noted addition of flashing-amber at a Pelican (pedestrian) crossing which means Go if the crossing's clear.
Hope the above makes sense, maybe we should put a guide together, as, for example - did you know the South African's call them "robots".

Ah, that makes the sequence make more sense. I notice now that the red and yellow (or amber) lights are on together. That was a very usefull interuption! And to think I was about to accept GL's explaination of a drag racing fish on a bicycle!
Key: Complain about this post
