How do you see the future of the ACEs?
It seems we are currently loosing the battle with Welcoming New Researchers, as fast as we Welcome them, more join, which is great but h2g2 is such a huge site, a Welcome message with hints and links can make a big difference to newbies.
If this due to trailers and adverts about the film? then this is just the beginning...
Is there a time when you can envisage being replaced by an automated message, and would this mean the end of the ACE Scheme?
Just curious to know what anyone else thinks about this

I think an automated message would be a shame
it would mike the site appear impersonal
and I thought the point of ACE's was to make sure a newbie could start with at least one friend on the site

Traveller in Time voting against an ACE-bot
"We already have a notitbot in development, .
I do not think this community would exist without the ACEs, they are the Glue, Guiding newbees on the right track andcreating groups on the fly.
The current increase in 'newbees' will be caused bythe announcements on the message boards they are about to be transferred to the dna system. There even is a migration office: < A3896436 >"

I enjoy ACEing.. admittedly I have the time to devote to it.
I am just wary of taking too many and stopping others from being able to ACE too.

I have been accused of being an automated message before... but hey, the newbie replied to test the theory

It's just a hypothetical question fords, not something that is seriously being considered or developed (as far as know) I'm interested in non-Aces, as well as Aces opinions.

I know, but I think it's a topic that should be discussed away from the conversation threads.
