opticalillusion's application to be an ACE
Reality Manipulator Started conversation May 11, 2003
Hello I am writing on behalf of opticalillusion U225451. She would like to know why she has not been accepted as an ACE as she has not received her ACE badge. She is very disappointed as she feels she had her hopes raised and now she feels that she has been rejected and given no explanation. Will you please go and reassure her.

Where did she apply and when? If she didn't apply on <./>ACES-recruit</.> then Abi can't find her. If she applied this weekend, Abi will get back to her on monday

Abi also only actually badges people about once a month, so I think you may have missed it for May, but as long as you meet the criterea (Approval of some Aces and a good sample greeting, I think), she'll put you on her list for some future point.
Until then, anyone can of course visit newbies and give them what ever greeting they want.

Jodan it has been some time since she applied to be an ACE. She has applied to be an ACE-recruit and she has not heard anything and is very worried that she has been forgotten and pushed aside.

Tell her to repost it, sadly the italics sometimes lost conversations on their list. I'm sure Abi will get back to her Monday then

There are still some pending from this months recruiting which are possibly to give time for feedback from other ACES and also because Abi is a very busy person in other ares of the site too.
The office is closed over weekends so nothing will be decided till Monday anyway.
Dont worry, she will get back with a decision soon.

After having checked the subject lines in opticalillusion's conversations list, I could only find an application to become a Scout - are you sure she has applied?
It could of course be that she named the ACE application conversation differently from the Scout application, which might be the reason I couldn't see one...

Or it could be that she accidentally unsubscribed from the thread and didn't see the instruction to post a test piece (or had unsubscribed from that) or had added it to another application rather than starting a new one. Has anyone systematically checked the ACE-Recruit and U190118 threads rather than just opticalillusion's links? Also check the Yahoo group in case it's one of those connected with the digibox issue but I doubt it from the PS and the conversation we had before.
[sigh - failing to stay out of it despite trying for the past few days]

Is the thread, i remember because i have been there a few times. Optical illusion hasnt unsubbed from it. I have to go out now as contrary to popular belief i have to switch off now and again
As i said, some are still pending from this recruit, particularly if a resubmit of the audition was done late Friday, as the office is closed over the weekend. Once the frontpage is set up and the routine early morning chores are done in the office (of which there are many on a Monday i would suspect ) then i am sure Abi will be able to give you a decision (sorry for second guessing you Abi)

Surely not Mort!
Good Morning all.
I have just responded to opticalillusion in the ACE audition thread. As many of you suspected, I failed to see the thumbs up from the other ACEs before I left. There was no malice meant. I think it is hard to equate h2g2 as a hobby with h2g2 as a job. For me, it is really important that when the tasks are done for the day / week. I go and do something else - otherwise I would simply go mad.
I also didn't see this thread over the weekend, mainly because I wasn't near a computer for most of it.
Thanks everyone.
