Howdy and welcome to H2G2. I think I speak for all of us when I say that I look forward to reading any contributions you make to the guide and extending a warm welcome to our community.
Hi there

I'd like to second that welcome!
Although I don't ride a motorbike, I did live in Cairns for a while .... and can attest it is an ideal town for bicycle riding.
It is also a great town in which to do many other things... Does your bike miss Cairns?
I was also wondering.... are there any wandering spirits (frocked or not) in your church?
Hi there

Thanks
Yeah I think my bike particularly misses the Palmerston (or maybe the Gillies) range, but ah well....
As yet, I haven't experienced anything unusual in this house to make me think it may inhabited by anyone
other than the two of us, our dog when we let him inside, and a few spiders...the church was built in 1928, and I don't think
there was ever a graveyard here or anything like that. And it's been a house for about 20 years now so I guess any spirits
who may have hung around have got the hint and buggered off. Not that I think it wouldn't be extremely interesting to have a ghost, just that I don't particularly believe in them and I'd have to tell them that in no uncertain terms, which could get unpleasant.

Welcome to H2G2. I'm not really qualified to be doing the welcoming as of yet, because I have only been a member for a few days. Oh what the hell! Welcome. I always knew I was a rebel. :>

I have allways wondered what I would say if I ever got the chance to meet a real (live?) ghost. seems that they would have an intresting perspective on things.
Hi there

Thanks Shelley, you rebel you
I've just completed an elective Computer Science subject (I'm actually studying psychology at Queensland Uni) and the text book is
written by Shelley Cashman Vermaat....and absolutely no relation to you, especially since that's actually 3 different people.
Hi there

Well, funny you should bring that up. Shelly Cashman Quasney isn't my real name. It's a highschool nickname which is an alias I've just stuck with since then. It's a long and boring story, but suffice it to say that I got my nickname from a computer book, a relative of the one that you used. We at the time didn't realize it was 3 different people. We were extremely amused with the other volumes we would find. We thought this "Shelly" person was quite a heartbreaker because the last name would change with each volume. So, my friends and I weren't very smart in highschool. We realized our mistake when we decided to actually read the book. Strange things happen every day. :>
How much longer do you have at the Uni? Are you enjoying your major? I'm also a college student, in my 3rd year.

LOL! So it is a relation!
I'm about halfway through my degree...studying part-time is lots of fun
I started it a while ago but got interrupted and went up to Cairns for a couple of years and they let me back in when I came back to Brisbane 'cos I grovelled.
Mind you, I'm doing a hell of a lot better now than when I was just out of high school - I was having too much fun back then...hehehhe
Do you have to do statistics in sociology? I despise the fanciful formulas devised by foreign fops!! Give me a good Aussie statistic anyday - none of this correlation or ANOVA, no regression or Wilcoxon's Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test for me! NO! GIVE ME A GOOD STATISTIC! A STATISTIC YOU CAN GET YOUR HEAD AROUND, LIKE COUNTING BEER BOTTLES!!! I CAN BLOODY WELL COUNT BEER BOTTLES, AT LEAST!!!!!
Please forgive my outburst I've got exams at the moment.....
Hi there

Please forgive my slowness in replying to your last comment. As, I've been battling insanity myself. I recently got finished with finals myself. My geology teacher thought it would be funny if he gave us 5 pages worth of review material, and then only made the test 40 questions. THIS MAN BELIEVES THAT THE DINOSAURS STILL ROAM IN AFRICA, AND THAT THE EARTH IS ONLY 6,000 YEARS OLD!! So sorry, I know that has nothing to do with the final. I just had to let it out.
I hope your non-denominational winter (or is it summer now in Australia?) holiday was joyous. (The lengths one has to go to anymore just to wish someone a Merry Christmas.)
Statistics? Oh dear God, I can't even count my own fingers correctly. I can worry about later, I have the entire week off from work.
=)
