My beloved Apple Mac has developed a couple of faults after 2,500 years' loyal service, so my appearances will be deciderably* erratic for the next century or so. Sorry. It's not for want of trying. Apples are good at faults, too!

Thanks folks [I'M ON LINE FOR A BIT -I won't say for a bit of what - and thanks for your sadly true observation, Paul. (Am I thanking him for one of his infamous puns? Real proof of how dodgy the computer's gone).
Thanks,
Pip! pip!

a doctor a day keeps the apple fit
erm! a fit doctor doesn't need apples
err! an apple a day is far too expensive - nope
maybe! don't have an apple and don't have a fit
sod it! who ever - get well soon

I like to eat an apple with a bit of white-chocolate yogurt at night just before bed. I can afford *that* kind of apple.

Disaster - and I feel for you. My Mac is struggling (after 3 000 years continuous use and I quite expect it to just say 'enough is enough', but it staggers on. Fortunately, someone is coming out from Ol Blighty and bringing me a nice shiny new one for 1/3 of the price here. I hope the old one survives.

er...friends...don't worry, the only fits I have are fits of temper - and then only about once every 2 years. Computers I have had are a different story.

If the socks atop stop fittin'
Then it's time for the credit card
Or time to start knittin'
Or to start (again, again), dietin'
[I had Rottweiller dogs once
An' it was time to up their diet
Once chewed up socks were found
around]

Sneaky viruses are the worst kind.
I have two different anti-virus programs on my computer. One checks the system daily, the other weekly. They spend significant time doing their work.

I found out from a friend (who's pretty good with PC's)that every time you wipe XP, it leaves a small section on the hard drive, to aid in "installing XP" and the virus was "hiding" in that bit, so every time I thought I'd got shut and reinstalled XP, it sort of reappearedso I found and used this freebie
http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm
it totally wipes your hard drive of everything
