The poem "Jabberwock" was very tongue in cheek.
Of course, even if you were the Stapuft marshmallow man, someone could turn you into a menacing character, as in "Ghostbusters."
We're all prone to seeing menace (even when none is there) when under severe stress.

It's easy to confuse me, lil.
I like "Jabs" as a way of signing. I didn't realize that this was a change.

He used to sign off as Jabs a while back. Then an older Researcher sort of got upset about it. But that one has Elvis'd now

People are very unpredictable in the things they get upset about.
What looks like small stuff to me might seem like a big deal to someone else.

Shakespeare was making a pun in that line, according to some scholars

The Globe Theatre's rival was called "The Rose," which had some sewage problems, or at least some bad smells. So, Shakespeare was poking some fun at the rival theatre, while making a valid comparison that could be appreciated down through the ages.
