it's interesting how many words are the same in english, german and danish (and dutch and a few others for that matter).
like house = haus = hus
yet there are others that are very very different
like butterfly = schmetterling = sommerfugl (directly it means summer bird)
in italian it's farfalle, in french it's papillon
the words don't seem to have anything at all in common - yet they mean exactly the same

Dag is a well known word in OZ. It refers to fecal matter tangled in the wool around a sheep,s backside. It is also used deragatorily to describe someone who is somewhat of an idiot without the excuse of being a moron. Not much used these days though as the younger generation prefer to use American insults.
