h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Rareware has just issued their most recent "Tepid Seat" page. This edition of the Tepid Seat pertains to questions that people may have about Rare's recent, current, and upcoming Game Boy Advance games. Lots of info for the fans of Rare. And I'm saving my favorite bit of news for last (may interest you "Affy Trackers" out there as well).

-First thing on the coolness digest....it seems that the new SabreWulf game (an update of a game from the 1980's) was, at one point, going to have a picture-in-picture feature that would let you watch the 'Wulf as it chased you. That would've been cool. Ah, the stuff that could have been....

-As expected, there aren't any new Donkey Kong games on the GBA in sight for Rare. It's sad that Rare won't be able to keep making the newer Donkey Kong games for the Console systems ever since they were purchased by Microsoft, but it's nice to hear that there doesn't seem to be any bad blood between the three companies. It's theoretically possible that we may see some new ones on the handheld systems from Nintendo (as long as Microsoft doesn't get a handheld gaming system), but they've gotta finish off the conversions of all the Donkey Kong Country games to the GBA first. It's also nice to see that the folks at Rare don't think that Nintendo is botching Donkey Kong (and lets face it....if not for Rare, Donkey Kong wouldn't be nearly the mega star that he is now). Maybe I should give Donkey Konga a chance....though I'd need to buy a GameCube first....

-Finally, an explanation for why "Banjo-Kazooie: Gruntilda's Revenge" didn't have any flying.

-AND NOW, MY INTEREST LEVEL PIQUES! Somehow, someway, they deemed a question that I sent in to be worthy of being Q6 on the page. On the one hand, I'll forever have the bragging rights for being the one who revealed that the upcoming Banjo-Pilot only featured Banjo characters (and I was so looking forward to flying a plane as Juno or Sabreman or Mr. Pants). However,....Why oh why oh why didn't I ask them why "Gruntilda's Theme" was absent from Grunty's Revenge? Oh, what a fool I've been....

But aside from that lament, it seems that all is well on the Rare front. And with the recent discovery of a website URL reserved for a game called "Banjo-Threeie" that links up to the Rareware homepage, I feel confident that next year's E3 convention will show us a few very nice surprises for whatever the next X-Box is.
