Day Of Mourning (But Maybe Not For You)

I'm used to living on a razor thin budget, because quite frankly there's very little that I ever really want to buy. However, today such a thing has been put on the shelves of stores.
Weird Al's latest CD hit the store shelves today. Wouldn't you know it, I don't have quite enough cash to pick it up?
Which is a shame, because the songs that I've heard from it so far are AWESOME. Really, seriously. "Don't Download This Song" is the best song that Al's ever offered for download on his website (well...maybe "Your'e Pitiful" is better...)
Looks like I'll have to wait for the dang pay check.

From what I have heard it looks to be pretty awesome, too bad You're Pitiful didn't make it on.

I heard about this on Bob and Tom last week. Sounds pretty good
If it makes you feel any better, I'm doomed to wait until payday as well. (Well, it probably doesn't make you feel any better, but misery loves company, or something like that...)

And now I have it.
Wow.
This album rocks. I'm always a bit worried that Al's going to lose his edge a bit every album, but this one is still great. Superior to everything before "Off The Deep End," I'm not really sure where I'd place it in my top five.

Hmmm, never heard of Weird Al (except in yours posts that is ). Maybe I'm too old, maybe too far away from the US.
Congrats on getting the CD you wanted, though.

Probably being too far from the US. My great aunt was a fan of Weird Al before she passed away (though admittedly she didn't have my manic, near-cult-like obsession with his music.)
Al is our foremost comedy musician, and unlike most of our comedy music people he really IS a musician, with a tremendous vocal singing range and skill at writing his own music. He's not as well known as he should be, but the vast majority of pop music people know of him. (If you're familiar with the band "Nirvana," it's often been said that they didn't know that they'd made it big until Weird Al did a parody of their "Smells Like Teen Spirit" song.)
He balances his repertoire evenly between parodies of other popular music and writing his own songs, and most of the time he even throws in an inverted-parody medley where he keeps the lyrics to seven or eight pop-rock songs the same, but sets them to a polka beat.
I highly recommend going to www.weirdal.com and listening to "Don't Download This Song." It's an amazing piece of satire that doesn't really take a side in the whole "protect the musicians/free music for fans" debate.
And if you've ever heard "You're Beautiful", then he's also got his parody of it, "You're Pitiful," available for download as well.

Although, it looks like an update is in order.
Good stuff, the new disc, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. I didn't like it as well as Poodle Hat. I think 'Pancreas' and 'Weasel Stomping Day' are my favourites.
There are some of his videos on Google video, as well, including the animated video for 'Don't Download this Song'.

Well, it's not my favorite either (my favorite has ben "Running With Scissors" ever since it came out), but I think the music is still good. Certainly better than his "Polka Party" album.
I'd list it in my top five, but I'm not sure exactly where I'd place it.
