I've been learning about sig figs in my Open Uni course, and this entry doesn't really cover as much ground as that does - for instance explaining how it affects calculations, when you would want to use them, etc.

melee_bowser, is this something you would be able to do some more work on? Explaining how many sig figs are in a number with no reference to what they are used for does seem a little confusing. If this is something that you had to do for school, very rarely does homework fit into the Guide without a lot of jiggling about.

Just as a sidenote, we have to use the correct number of sig figs when doing calculations in chemistry - for example, in stoichiometric conversions, the answer always has to have the same number of sig figs as the starting value. This is actually kind of annoying, because it pains me, for example, to have to round an answer of 75 to 80 if the given has only one sig fig.

sorry all, i meant to get back to this article and revise it, but it has been a while since i could find some free time. So I'll try to fix it in the near future. The problem is that my schedule will be busy once again in just a few days.
