And a nice hot cup of tea!!!
It's not MY tea (Twinning's English Breakfast Tea), but it is good: Honey-lemon Ginseng Green Tea, which I found in the kitchen.
Whhheee!!!!
Aight.
RON: Weasley. Adorable. And and and and!!! I ***LOVE*** him. It's serious. Ok... I love SNOOPY and Tigger and Eyeore and SNOOP DOGG and RINGO, too... ::sigh:: But!!! This Ron's a lot more fascinating, and he comes from a wonderful, wonderful family of fellow redheads (Oh yeah... saw a cute t-shirt I contemplated getting for myself... it says: Genuine Redhead: Keep out of Direct Sunlight), and I get to look forward to reading about him for two more fabulous J.K. Rowling books!!!... and hopefully much, much more.
I know.
He and Hermione are going to get together.
But still!!! Because the third Potter movie's out today in the U.S., Wally Hood has promotional buttons!!! YAY!!! So... I squealed at this news and consequently got a Ron Weasley button.
Actually I grabbed it from the bag. I think I simultaneously jumped up and down and I KNOW I spent the next half an hour grinning stupidly with it on my vest next to my heart. Then I went back to the Electronics dept to say thank you and to apologise for getting caught up in the moment.
I've since been given two more Ron Weasley buttons... I guess the reaction is really thrilling.
....
MERMAIDS: Tarot deck. YAY!!!... I spent easily four hours looking online for another deck. I did this in July too, and didn't feel too happy. I ended up getting nothing new.
But today I saw the deck of leetle mermaids... they are SOOOO cute and they make me giggle. So I'll probably get the deck.
A few days back, the pagan group I'm in at college had a free Tarot Workshop, and I got to look at The Whimsical Tarot. "This one's good for your sense of humor," the instructor said when she handed it to me. That must've sunk in. Ha ha ha. Mermaids. Sunk.
I'll definately have to buy the Tarot of the New Vision. It's based on the Rider-Waite deck. But it takes a different perspective on each card: a 90 degree or 180 degree look. I LOVE what I've seen in that, too.
It's sold out at one of the sites that sells it.
YUL: Brenner. I ***LOVE*** Yul Brenner (not as much as Ron, or actual real people in my life)!!!!
I found a PBS Special on him last night after w*rk... the whole family watched, because we LOVE him from "The King and I".
Someone who knew Brenner talked about his opinion on getting hurt in the heart: "That's like someone going out to the finest place for dinner, enjoying a fantastic meal, and then complaining when the check comes."
He also said something like: "We are born alone. We die alone. Everything in between is a favor."
Dern wise guy... and I didn't know he was in "The Magnificent Seven"!!! YAY!!! I'm all over that!!!... The whole family wanted to see that movie, too. Hee hee. Cowboy movies.
I want a Tarot of Entertaining Cowboy Movies hand delivered by Ron Weasley. But I'll settle for another cup of that tea...

Hi Dragonfly!
You are quite daft you know, Ron indeed!
As someone who used to own a pagan shop and sell tarot cards, the gift thing is a superstition. You can choose what superstitions you want to follow, and even make up your own. They have no real value, they just become your own esoteric rules. Aferall you have every right to buy yourself a gift!
Most tarot card designers I have spoken to, think the same thing.
There is another superstition that other people shouldn't touch your cards, but if you consider auras, they are often touching your cards. Do tarot readers really believe that the physical body can affect cards but the aura cannot? Thats just daft and its more likely to be the other way. See, another superstition.
If you like superstitions great, make your own as well, but if not then just live your own life! Which I know you do anyway.
Have fun!

I don't think it's unlucky... I've heard more Pagans say you ought not to (just because it can be misleading, or you can't see all that the spirit world's trying to communicate...) than seem to condone it.
:;shrugs::
There are times when I think that reading for myself doesn't work. But for the most part, I think we're good...
YAY!!! I love my Tarot. I'm so silly!!!
Kaz
Yes!!! Ron, indeed!!! What...!?? You like Potter!?? Or Draco!?? Huh!??
'phina
Another reason to forget about the "it needs to be a gift" shiznit: You could end up waiting a long time, and/or end up with a deck someone else thinks you're right for...

When I got to my brother's house for Thanksgiving dinner, I found that my nephew was watching the new "Harry Potter" movie on his DVD player....for the second time.

I just love you Dragonfly you really brighten up a day!
I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan and I think Rob Weasley is one of the BEST actors on it - he does the greatest facial expressions! I'm debating on whether or not to buy the newest HP movie or ask for it for Christmas... I don't know if I can hold out that long!
I've read Tarot for 23 years. The bit about someing having to give them to you as a gift is bunk. I'm very picky about my cards - they have to "talk" to me, I've bought several decks over the years (they used to only show one of the cards on the top of the box - so you couldn't see the rest until after you purchased them and took them home, then no returns!) and after opening the box didn't like the deck and gave them away. Now, at the new age bookstore I go to, they have photo copies of all of the cards of all the decks that they sell in a large notebook, and you can look at all the cards before you buy the deck!
How can you not have other people touch your tarot deck? The person you are reading for has to touch the deck to shuffle, and to pick out cards sometimes - how else do they get their "aura" onto your cards? You just do a cleansing on them afterwards. Or if I'm doing mass quantities of readings at the Renaissance Festival, I clean them at the end of the day. I have up to 35 people handle them everyday at the festival - and no problems yet! I have used the "Aquarian" deck for several years - as I like the watercolors used in the background (I am a graphic artist, I get "feelings" from the colors...) but I am now using the "Robin Wood" deck - because it looks "Renaissancie"
However I do believe you should never handle a persons tarot cards without their permission...
YAY Ron Weasley! And Yule Brenner?!! Don't even get me started! I LOVE him in the "King & I"! But my favortie is Danny Kaye in anything, but especially in "The Court Jester".
s for all!

Oh, I almost forgot: Danny Kaye was also in "Hans Christian Andersen," which had that earworm song, "No two people have ever been so in love."

Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Nov 26, 2004
I was going to correct you and say it was the "Inchworm" not earworm - then I realized you were talking about another song!
I had the L.P. of the soundtrack of Hans Christian Anderson. I lent it to a "friend" whom I haven't seen since
Danny Kaye "was" Hans. Brilliant film. He was so - innocent? Naive?
Yul Brynner - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000989/ - the sexiest d*mned Russian ever. God Bless him.
That dance with Anna in The King and I.
One of my favourite films ever.

YAY!!!
(just endured a most crazy day at w*rk... the Holiday Shop is destroyed)
Brynner is terribly sexy. 'Specially in "The King and I"... I got a postcard today from a great old friend of mine. She ALSO watched the SAME special!!! YAY!!!
Michele, I wouldn't be able to wait til C-mas for Harry Potter. No way, no how!!!
I'm VERY picky about Tarot cards, too. I bought The Tarot of Oz years ago just because it was Oz-oriented and I love Oz. Then.... I was very disappointed in the actual cards.
There is a cute "Yellow Brick Road" Spread in it, though.
So I've stayed quite faithful to the ol' Rider-Waite. My brother got the Robin Wood one for his birthday... I'd love to look through it, and ought to ask.
Well, anyway... I'm picky with Tarot and want to see FEET... and I better like the Tower, the Lovers, and the Queen of Wands cards, or it just won't happen. Wheel of Fortune better be good, too.
The artwork for Tarot of Mermaids is BEAUTIFUL. And the mermaids are so cute, too!!!
I also bought a deck of the Tarot of the New Vision. Did I mention that!?? It's Rider-Waite but from a 90 or 180 degree angle, so you can see what the Magician is looking at, and what's behind the Hierophant, the High Priestess, the Kings and Queens...
YAY!!!

Also, I'm picky about the artwork. My grandmother is a painter... maybe that's why...
Oh!!! And I love you too, Michele.

YAY!!!
s for everyone! Woohoo!
I was trying to find some info on the Harry Potter IV movie... seems it's supposed to be the most expensive movie ever made - as most of it is filmed underwater in a special tank...

Don Malvado, so bitter my cat won't even lick me Posted Nov 30, 2004
Isn't there a card game a little like hearts you can play with tarot cards?
That what my sister has a deck for, she dosen't believe in the other stuff.
I tried pulling out 3 cards to see what it said about me and was a little suppried by the answer. How are you supposed to use the mystical ones anyway?
A boy named Ron, a Tarot of Mermaids, a PBS Special on Yul Brenner...
Dragonfly. "A poet can survive everything but a misprint"-- Oscar Wilde Posted Nov 30, 2004
Thanks for the info on the movie, Michele!!!
I dunno much about the game you can play with them... one of my friends has played cards with them.... I can't see doing that, myself.
How to use them "mystically"!??.... make up stories about what you see on the cards!!! If certain things stand out to you-- if you are drawn to certain colors, or the sky, or an animal, talk about and think about that, cause there's certainly a reason for that. Basically, look at what's happening in the card...
Also note that: Pentacles indicate manifestation, earth, w*rk, wealth.
Swords indicate action (sometimes aggitation), air, swift change... ah, swords, silly swords (I used to hold them far too tight!!!! They kept coming up for me, especially the two of swords, which shows a blindfolded woman balancing one sword on each shoulder... appropriate, eh!??)
Cups!!! YAY!!! Indicate emotion, water, intuition
Wands/Staves indicate thought, fire, creativity...
YEEEHAH!!!
I must away to school now.... Well, I must away to warm up my leetle car!!! YAY!!!
