Why not?
In case you missed it, here are some links to some of my latest blogs.
I recently came back from Hawaii: http://denver.yourhub.com/PARKER/Blogs/Active-Life/Recreational/Blog~144823.aspx
I wrote a parody of William Carlos Williams' "This is just to say", about candy available in the newsroom where I work: http://denver.yourhub.com/FRANKTOWN/Blogs/Life/Work-Career/Blog~147514.aspx
And I went to an awesome Poetry Slam 101 workshop the night before last: http://denver.yourhub.com/PARKER/Blogs/Arts-Entertainment/Literature/Poetry/Blog~151199.aspx
Life is good. Many things to still tackle -- fun decisions to make, like which literary events I should go to, mildly hard decisions to make, like which invitations I can accept from my friends this holiday season ...
Thanks for the read.

Thanks for the update, Dragonfly. I went to a poetry reading in Martha's Vineyard back in August. The poet was film director Stephen Gyllenhaal. I got to meet his wife Naomi and their children, actors Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal.

That's so cool, Pauly -- it seems to fit in, too, with one of the 10 things you can do to make a difference in your community, as listed by Denver Poet Laureate Chris Ransick at a reading/discussion he led last night. I of course blogged about that, too.
If you like, you can check out his list of 10 things you can do to make a difference in the community at http://denver.yourhub.com/PARKER/Blogs/Arts-Entertainment/Literature/Poetry/Blog~152178.aspx
I hope you had a fine time at the poetry reading. I bet it was very nice. I'll try to check out his work.

My book discussion group will be discussing Gyllenhaal's poetry the first Tuesday in December.
I'm also participating in two poetry threads on H2G2 right now.

You know, it's interesting...I almost wrote a paper on William Carlos Williams the other day. Even to the point where I flat-out told my professor that I'd be writing a paper on him.
Couldn't find a book, though. Switched to William Stafford at the last minute.

How about Stafford Carlos?
Or William Williamson?
Or Carlos Staffordson?
(If you made up an author, would the professor know the difference? )

How about William Shakespeare?
Thanks for the read, guys.
Enjoy those poetry threads, Pauly. And good luck on your paper, Affy. Maybe it will be turned into a Guide Entry? If so, please post the link here!

Yeah, my prof would know if I made up an author. He's very knowledgeable about 20th century poetry.
Besides, the paper needed to effectively be a review/critique of a book of poems that the poet published. So I took his "Traveling Through the Dark" book (based on the only poem of his that I'd really ever read before), read it one night, and wrote the paper the next night.
I don't think the paper itself would make a good guide entry without some serious changing, though. If I ever do change it into a guide entry, though, I'll be sure to pass it along (it'd be a nice change of pace from my entries so far. Obscure video games seem to dominate that list...although, I *did* manage to create the entry on Combs before anyone else thought to do so.)

Video games rule! ... Computer games have been some of my addictions this year-- first I was re-addicted to Roller Coaster Tycoon. Now my boyfriend and I play "You Can't Live Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way", a first-person spy game.
Awwwww yeah!
Obscure or not, they are enjoyable.

I was just rattling your cage, Dragonfly.
I believe in Freedom of Pleasure, and playing video games is your pelasure. Teasing you about it is mine.

While it's true that most video games are obscure, it's also true that most books are obscure, most TV shows are obscure, and most movies are obscure.
I suppose I could've done some non-obscure games like Myst, Mario Brothers, or Duke Nukum, but instead I went with Zork and Commander Keen.

When all is said and done, the whole is obscure. The other life forms out there in the galaxy have never heard of us, except in horror stories about extratrrestrials who visited Earth and got sick afterwards from e. coli in the .

Ha! Aliens getting sick from e coli ...
I love your imagination, as always.
And for the record, we've not played the computer game for a week or more, but I have been watching lots of CSI Las Vegas season three. That is another of my pleasures.
I've also been very very busy writing new poetry. Lady Pennywhistle sent me a kick ass book of poetry by Israeli poet Agi Mishol and I've been really inspired. I also had to catch up on a month and a half of poems ...
See, I write my poems in a notebook first, almost always. Then I transfer them to the computer. I hadn't done it since early October. And now I am only a couple poems away from being entirely caught up.
Play onward!
Affy, have you seen the video on YouTube of the guy who plays all the songs from the Mario Brothers games on the piano? It's fantastic!

Not yet, YouTube doesn't agree with my dial-up connections that often. But I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks.

I see no difference in the discussion of obscure video games and obscure poetry.
The old games of "Lemmings" and "Humans" rock.

(you know, if you want to publish your poetry somewhere outside hootoo, it's best not to have it online anywhere. Posting a poem means it will be considered published and many publications won't accept previously published work)

Getting things published is a rat race I'm not trying to run.
I'm keeping some good stuff offline, just in case, though.

Good thinking.
I've started selecting my best poetry this morning. Amazed at all the bad ones I have!
