I used to play Flip a hell of a lot when I was wee. Being underage, but my parents liking pubs, I spent a lot of time trying to amuse myself. Thus flipping beermats. Did anyone else try flipping multiple mats? The aim being to catch them all. Sort of like flipping change from your elbow into your hand. I believe I got up to eight once, but that may just be my memory playing tricks.

How do you know that the memory of your whole life isn't your memory playing tricks on you?

My friends and I used to have a compertition amounst ourselves to see how many mats could be fliped, a friend of mine managed 28 once, I remember whatching in amasement cause I had a job to hold 28 let alone flip them over and catch them as you can imagine he had big hands.

My brother used to be able to 16 in both hands at the same time i.e a double flip.

I managed 12 ( he's younger, ambidextrous and has much bigger hands).

Wow? Could this be a family thing? I used to flip that many mats too and I am someone's brother. What a conincidence - or not - it may well just be one of the defining characteristics of big-handed brothers.

A variation of beer mat flipplng.. (Coaster catch)
Extend your hand in front of you,palm down. Balance a quantity of beer mats(coasters) on the back of your hand, pull your hand from beneath them, and with the same hand reach back to catch the stack before they fall to the floor.
