I see you *do* have a kind of link, but that's only visible to those who inspect the drop-down lists on your page. Hardly to be considered advertising
Apart from that I've never noticed a link being available, and believe me; I've checked quite often.
I also noticed that the picture on your page is somewhat too wide. Even on 1024*768 the right hand border is off the screen. But this is not the forum for such discussions, so forget that I even mentioned it

That's right- those are the only links I have on that page- go check one of my alter egos if you want bigger links. My page is made to be neat and tidy... oh, and the pic is coming down very soon

And I shouldn't think I should have to advertise more than I do. I wrote the bit on the ACE homepage- all the newbies are directed to this page- lol. What more could you want, other than a direct link from the frontpage?

So, you don't appear to be prepared to offer the project some *directly* visible space on your intro-page. I don't know any of your so-called "alter ego's", so I can't consider any of them. The best you can do is something in a drop-down list or a link from a page which isn't your own. The bit on the ACE's homepage doesn't even mention the ACTUAL names of the pages they refer to, and it doesn't cost you any space on your own homepage. And since the ACEs as a group are not members of our SETI-team, any link there is a voluntary bonus. It gains you what it costs you: nothing.
Is it fair to expect a link back? I'm sorry, but I don't see how I could accomodate you without linking to *all* SETI-partners, regardless of links back. And as I said, that is not an option.
We are grateful for your contribution to the team, and your name is mentioned in return, but that's as far as I can go.

I don't understand what you need with this forum, Berry. The name "T@lia" is not in the H2G2 Researchers group at the SETI@home server, AND you have not linked from your H2G2 homepage to "The SETI@home Project". In fact you haven't even set up your homepage yet.
As long as those two criteria have not been met, I can't link to you.
If this was only for trying out how it works... You should have followed the link to the page "For those that need convincing". THAT is the page where fools can test as much as they wish without needlessly hogging this forum, which is only meant for discussing SETI@home issues.
Anyway, I hope you had fun. Now go pester your mum, ok?
Are you..
Yeliab {h2g2as} Posted May 19, 2000
Are you the one who set up the H2G2 researchers SETI group? Because on the SETI page my name doesen't have a link. Do I need to fil it in myself? (I'm Deep Thought)

Hi Nick,
I did NOT set up the group, Simon Owen (aka HardBack, Researcher 53909) did.
If you're referring to the page at SETI@home, you can set the link there yourself. Read all the sections in my article where this forum belongs ( http://www.h2g2.com/A195879" >http://www.h2g2.com/A195879 ), and you will find a box where you can enter your SETI-name and password, which then brings you to the SETI-page where you can alter your own account-info. There's a line where you can set the URL for your name. (WITHOUT http:// in front of it). Once that is done, you will be linked from there.
If you refer to the the list of SETI-participants here on H2G2, that is my work. However, to get your name linked from there, you must first create a link from your own page to the article A193231, named "The SETI@home Project". This is a way to get more peoples attention to join our effort. One of the sections on this page also gives some suggestions about getting such a link up, but it's too much to repeat here on the forum.
I hope this answers your question, but if not, please continue asking

Ah, that makes sense thanks.
Bye the way have you seen that were now chomping our way through data collected in March 2000!

You're welcome, Nick.
Yeah, I've noticed that. But you may find that all of a sudden you're working packets of june '99 again, or any other period. Most packets will be worked out two or three times to verify the results, and they make sure that nobody gets the same packet twice. Also, the packets that appear to show anomalous or interesting results, are checked more often than others.

The Cheese Posted Jun 3, 2000
I guess this would be the forum to say I just joined, and I'm about to put a link up. My name on SETI is Cheeseh2g2. I'm fairly new to all this, though...

Well, for someone who is fairly new to this, you did a great job... Much better than some others
First: your name on SETI was linked to your page here, so it was easy for me to find, and following that link I could immediately see that you had linked to the project as well, so in fact you didn't need to write me at all. (normally, people only need to message me if they have been on the team a while already, but made a link to the project only recently.)
Thanks for writing anyway, it made things even easier to double-check Great job, Cheese! Welcome on the team!

I joined the Seti Team three days ago and set up a link to the team page, could you put me in the list and link me?
The name I use on SETI is "Lightning", U127665.
Thanks,
Lightning

The Little Prince Posted Jun 15, 2000
I've joined your team just moments ago. Would you be so kind as to add me to your list. My name here and at the SETI@Home project is "The Little Prince." You can link to my page from there, or use this number to get there: U135218. I've got the stock text up with a link on my page. I'll be more creative later.
Many Thanks!
