Our practice hall for dancing was slightly flooded which plays hell with the brushed leather soles on our shoes.

There were collapsed ceiling tiles and every fifteen minutes or so a fresh burst of water. It looked like the urinals in th etoilets upstairs had burst their pipes. The worse thing is that no-one shut them off in the four hours we were there.

But even nastier is the fact that the practice hall is the university's refectory, the main canteen. I'm glad I'm not on a meal plan. I don't think any of us will be eating in there in the near future

Well not me, I'm not that stupid. I let the others do it

And they wouldn't turn off the water supply to the toilets upstairs, despite us telling them that it was a problem...

Well, I'm glad to hear that. That you aren't so stupid, of course.

I wouldn't have either. I had slaves and maids in waiting for that kind of thing.

That would be before your parents and the rest of the kingdom thought that you'd make a pretty nice snack for a sea monster I suppose?

Yes... It was my mothers fault, anyway. Just because she was bored by some poet in court praising the beauty of the Nerieds, she said we were more beautiful than they were. So Poseidon sent the monster. And the Oracle made daddy sacrifice me...

I suppose it did mean that I didn't have to marry that awful wretch Agenor, though...

There is some good in most things if you look hard enough

perhaps you would have made a good seer... thats very true.

That would require an ability to divine the future from what happens in my surroundings, which I can't do. Otherwise I'd have won the lottery the last couple of months running

And seers do tend to get blamed, I suppose, when things go wrong... I know I did...
