Is there any way to set in which order the links are shown?
I'm trying to link to several h2g2 entries, and I'd like the top link to be to the 'introduction' entry - but it doesn't seem to matter in which order I list the links because they show up sorted after the A-number, the lowest one at the top.

Is it too late to swap the contents of the entries around?
There definitely is ordering specified in the tags of dna/h2g2 pages but I think it is imposed by the page generation software rather than being something you can insert in a tag yourself.

I had thought of suggesting swapping the contents (I'm helping a friend) but there are 20-something entries, and they're also linked to each other (which of course means you'd have to change the links too, not just copy&paste the content), so I thought I'd see if anyone could come up with an easier way...

NB Having just popped over to the FP archive to check, it is still the case that the automatic ordering breaks down when "too many" link references are on a single page. It used to break down with lots of repeats but, although I haven't checked rigorously, it looks as though Jim Lynn has fixed that bit. I don't think this helps you at all though.

You can fake it using the external reference method and box, eg:
name here
seemed to preserve order when I experimented.
I still think that, if you must have a specific order, swapping the contents around would be easiest/best at this stage.

By the way, I discovered about the 'too many link references on a single page' that the number of links that show up is limited to 20, even if you have listed more

Presumably you mean within the REFERENCES tag, as that 20 limitation certainly doesn't apply to the LINK tag itself. Or perhaps you haven't seen the pages of U230056.

Ah yes - within the preferences - or at least that's what I thought... turned out I was mistaken
I had 21 links within the preferences and only 20 showed up, but on double checking them I had mistyped the A number in one of the links - after correcting it I have 21 links showing up
Oh, and thanks for reminding me of that entry - I missed the front page of Friday last week!
