So then how d'you get that gap between 'Author' and 'Story'?

Are you referring to the alignment of text in table cells? Under most circumstances the default is that normal TD cells have their contents left-aligned while header TH cells have their contents centred. You can override this behaviour by specifying the alignment for a row or a cell. You might want to have:
