Well, it looks like William Gibson was right when he said, "On January 1, 2000, there are going to be a lot of pissed off survivalists" (I'm paraphrasing).
Can't say I'm sorry that they'll be upset.

But boy were they prepared
I was slightly disappointed in the lack of wholescale global panic, and not the slightest whiff of apocalyptic meltdown. Might have shaken things up a bit although any imaginings of the possible outcome are all a little scary. I mean, can you imagine that anything could shake the dominant hold capitalism has on this planet. I doubt very much whether major panic would cause any strengthening of community spirit and collapse of the free market economy? Oh well, maybe next millennium

Am I the only person that wasn't upset that nothing happened?
Don't forget, the next millenium doesn't start until next year. Too bad for those folks that got married December 31 at midnight because they 'wanted to get married at the start of a new millenium.' I guess they could get divorced and try again next year.

Oh, you pedant! How many people are actually bothered that the millennium doesn't actually start until next year? So the 21st century hasn't started yet either?

Exactly. We have just entered the last year of the last century of the 20th century (probably why Kubrick called his film '2001' instead of '2000'). Still another year to go before the new millenium and there won't be any Y2K bugs either. Hopefully, we should just be able to enjoy it without the media trying to aggravate our deepest fears of apocalyptic doom.
Alonh those lines, here's something that interested me, since I was stuck at home 'working' at midnight, New Year's eve:

Sorry. Text editing problem. That should read 'the last year of the last century of this millennium.' Doh.
