...See it! Now! Don't wait!
Sleepy Hollow...
Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Nov 28, 1999
Agreed! I had my first chance to see it this weekend while I was home for thanksgiving. Great show! Tim Burton has a quite the distinctive vision and this bears all of his trade marks without making you feel like you've seen it all before (very difficult, concidering it's based on a very old story). Also, everyone who likes to be freaked out and throughouly confused should get a look at Being John Malkovich -- truly strange.

I've heard that about Being John Malkovich. Now I will *have* to go see it. Toy Story 2 is also worth the $6.50 I paid to see it - its amazing what folks can do with computers these days! You also get to see the origin of the bouncing lamp logo they use.

I didn't know they used a bouncing lamp logo. Anyway, I will definately go see Toy Story 2, but not until I'm back in Phx. for winter break.

Also see Dogma. I love Kevin Smith and this is a definite winner! And it should still be in theaters when you get back to AZ.

Thanks. My room mate loves Kevin Smith and told me that Dogma was pretty good. Anything else out there that I'm missing? I don't see much while I'm at school.

Well, there's the new Bond, but I haven't seenit yet. Everyone I've talked to says its great, though. I'll probably see it this weekend and let you know. The next film I want to see is End of Days. Arnie's just too cool!

I actually got a look at the new Bond this weekend, too. It's not the best there's been, but it's entertaining

That's one thing you can always count on from a Bond flick, entertainment. I still want to get a chance to drag race with a tank someday!
Sleepy Hollow...
Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Nov 30, 1999
In this one he's got a boat with a jet engine!
Sleepy Hollow...
Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Nov 30, 1999
Very cool! Now I *have* to see it for sure!

The character of Christmas Jones is not a convincing nuclear physisist. True to the Bond tradition her main function seems to be to wear white tank tops and get soaked in water. Oh, and provide some very bad puns on her first name at the end of the movie. Bad ones. Really.

These are not up to 007's usual standards.

That's too bad. I'll probably still see it - it does have the jet boat after all - but it will be missing something...

Um... am I interrupting? (Shout at my Journal if so.) But I spent some of my valuable time and cash experiencing Sleepy Hollow, and it was truly impressive- sufficient to make me lose sleep that night. (Iron maidens and decapitation are two of my least favourite methods of death- or so I would imagine.)I shall see to it that my first-born son is named Ichabod.
Apologising again for intrusive enthusiastic rant.

There are no elitist conversations on h2g2. This is because Peta arranges for us ACES (and I'd imagine the Sub Editors as well) to do their top secret buisness off site!
Good to hear from you Mandragora Scrymidden. Might I ask where you got such a... unique name?

Not that there is any top secret business, riiiight Irving?
Certainly glad you joined the conversation, MS! And feel free to join in on any others that seem interesting. I love it when people trip onto my page!
The death scenes certainly were well done, if perhaps a trifle overwhlming. My favorit was when Icabod sees the horseman for the first time. And wasn't Christopher Walken magnificent as the Hessian? He's one of my avorite actors.

Know what I love about Tim Burton? Well, one of the things. It certainly says something for his technique as a director that he can get the same actors and actresses to come back and do work for him over and over again. Christopher Walken (a wonderfully crazed Hessian) was also in Batman Returns as Max something. One of the bad guys (of course). Johny Depp was Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood... and possibly someone else. I can't recall. One of the town elders from Sleepy Hollow was they guy (Rooney from "Feris Beuhler's Day Off) who played the father from Beatlejuice. Of course, Beatlejuice stared Michael Keaton, who did both Burton's Batman movies. Jack Nicholson was in Batman, and played two parts (at least) in Burton's Mars Attacks (which, no matter what anyone says, is a GREAT film). I've only done the guys that I can think of. I can't think of any women who have reprised Burton films, but I'm sure there are a few
As for Top Secret buisness. . . Can I borrow a match?

Winnona Ryder was in many early Burton films - Edward Sissorhands, Beetlejuice, and I know there's more but I can't think of them right now. And Miranda Richardson has done a couple as well. Burton has a remarkable vision and a directing style that seems to bring out the best in people. I am always impressed with what I seen from him - even Mars Attacks! was fun in its own light.
Oh, I have no matches, but I did get a nifty Zippo for Xmas. Here ya go!
