Here is an Entry about a museum I have enjoyed visiting this year.
The Entry builds on Bluebottle's Entry about the shipwreck of the Mary Rose so I hope I have done justice to the subject.

Seeing the 'Mary Rose' now compared to in 1982 when all I saw was a mist is a completely different experience - even compared to a couple of years ago when the building was there but before they got rid of the walls so you could only see anything through a few small windows to limit the light exposure, and most of what you saw were the pipes - now the glass walls and curves of the floor really make you feel part of the ship, with the displays located where they would be.
It really is a fantastic museum and it didn't exist at all when I wrote my entry/

Thank you - yes, a lot has changed for the 'Mary Rose' since 2002! It is so much easier to appreciate the amazing survival of the wood when you can see it clearly.
I have a vague memory of seeing the 'Mary Rose' when it was shrouded in mist, as I made a cardboard model of the ship when I was at school, but it would have been difficult for me in the old building with all the steps... More likely that I saw it on TV and blended the memory with the time I saw a Tudor gate in a spray chamber in one of the Liverpool Museums
Good point about the Museum having changed a couple of years ago to improve the experience even more - I'll check the book later and add a bit more in
I have taken the liberty of adding your words as a quote, as that is an excellent comparison

- although could you change '1982' to '1984'. If the museum opened in late 1983 and the ship changed angle in 1985, it must have been 1984 that I first saw her. I know it was definitely spring, though, but that detail isn't particularly important.

Ah, yes, that makes sense - I have changed the year to 1984. A memorable sight for young you indeed, even though you saw more mist than Mary Rose
I have added a footnote about the glass walls

And it isn't in Southampton. I just remembered reading a by Arthur C Clarke, it may have been 'The Hammer of God' (a title that may remind Sasha of a Queen ) in which the characters go to Southampton to see the 'Mary Rose'. Don't!
