I might still win the lottery. Then I'll travel all over the disc and see all the researchers I know of. Be warned! smiley - winkeye

Am I the last person to realise that the London Marathon is on the Sunday of the meet?

Yes, not a good day for sightseeing. Much of the course follows the river, so you should be ok in the West End, for example. Check the TFL site for tube/bus info.

I'm only having breakfast then trolling off to Crystal Palace to stay with a friend of mine, so hopefully won't be too affected by it

Given the logistics of arriving in London Saturday morning, I saw little point in trying to book a hotel room for Friday night. I will go straight to the Pub, luggage and all, and worry about the hotel afterward (it's within a block of the pub anyway).

you may be able to get an early check-in, or just leave your bags there while you go to the pub then check in during the afternoon. If it's like most of the meets I've been to, people will be coming and going all the time

Weather update - the weekend’s looking a bit cool and showery, sorry. Don’t plan for a picnic.

"What shall we have for our picnic?"

"Cucumber sandwiches, mead, and a laudanum trifle."

smiley - silly

I suggest Pimms No 1 Cup rather than Mead. It's more English.

My plane leaves Boston tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m.

The only hassle I see will be getting to Holborne from Heathrow.

Would the Piccadilly line go from Heathrow to Holborn?
