If this has promise it could be one of a series
the others would be the
1 Digital SLR and lens options
2 Basic digital cameras
3 Top end medium format digital from Bronica to Hasselblad
4 Lenses from fisheye via tilt shift to telephoto and astronomican mountd for your telescope

Interesting Entry, bob
I have a relatively new bridge camera, so I can learn a lot from this I was especially worried about growing out of the camera, as I have been struggling to get good results with it, so that's good to know that better results are possible...
I think this Entry would be easier to read, though, if you took the table out and used the left hand column titles as Headers, then put the text in paragraphs.
I look forward to seeing how this develops

Hello SashaQ
I will take this out of the table but I wanted to make it clear.
What camera have you I wonder why you are disappointed maybe I can help a little.

I was sure I posted to this earlier – I'll try and remember what I said.
Essentially I like this short, sharp summary entry that is a good introduction to bridge cameras.
I am very happy with the content of the entry, but perhaps the style in which it is presented could be polished up a bit?
Like Sasha I stated that in this case, I think it would work better if the first cell were introductory paragraphs, with the contents of the cells as bullet-point lists beneath Headers. The first footnote could then be incorporated into the text.

I think that works better.
I'd still recommend either putting footnote 8 'This list is incomplete and is only representative of the range available from non-specialist stores.' into the main body, such as after the list of camera manufacturers, although personally I don't think you need it as you've said it 'includes', which implies there are others.
I'd also delete the opening header, as that duplicates the title. You could then move the footnote 'Important Note - As technology moves so fast, this may only be current for a few years.' after where you have written 'So a bridge camera is very similar to the SLR but has no mirrors'
What do you think?

I think you are correct I shall delete the table version now.
To make points clear do you think several example photos would help.

Thanks bob - that's much easier to read.
I've got a Fujifilm FinePix Bridge with 18x zoom and a Pentax Compact.
In terms of Macro images, I found the Pentax was far superior, but I have got to grips with the Fuji more now, and use SuperMacro to take pictures that the Pentax could do on Macro. The Fujifilm Macro is impressive at surprisingly large distances, though, so it is better in a different way - I need to experiment more with that...
I took the camera with me to a nature reserve last weekend and accidentally discovered the different modes available (I was wearing gloves and my thumb pressed the button by mistake ). That did give me better results for taking closeup portraits of wildlife, although the image in portrait mode is perhaps not as sharp as other modes might be. In Sport Mode I got some good sharp action shots of birds landing on water, but then the zoom wasn't enough in that mode... I'm still experimenting with the modes, as there are a lot of them
Excellent point about the camera case - for a long time I didn't have a case, so it wasn't easy for me to bring the camera with me, so I didn't get enough practise taking photos, but now I have a good case that is comfortable to carry, so I am much happier taking the camera out

Hi Sasha Fuji is excellent I have a Fuji bridge camera, and I am looking at the new Pentax bridge. The Fuji take some beating and in my opinion among the best.
Macro is hard as the depth of field is very small bracket your shots making small adjustments each time. A tripod is definitely recommended
The image in portrait mode is perhaps not as sharp as other modes might be. No thats deliberate a "soft focus" flatters the victim oops! model so the blur is built in to the program. If you want real portraits don't use it.
Don't get hung up on action zoom get a sharp photo then zoom in on the PC. Also the bigger the view the easier it is to follow the action. If you don't zoom in so fat the depth of field will be greater and thus improve your focus.
Also keep a neutral screw on filter on the lsen to protect it.
If it came with one don't leave the lens hood at home.

Hi bob,
I think you may have inadvertently replaced your text for the 'bridge' camera with the one for the SLR
I wanted to compare the two and see which fit my Cannon beter.
I did find this in the Edited Guide A1002862 but the last comment is seven or eight year old commenting about how out of date it is. Could you consider an update? It could become a great link to both of these Entries.
Will post more later

Just posted the same, FS. Think bob has cut and over-pasted.
Looking for the bridge entry to be resurrected. Hope it's not lost and is saved elsewhere!
