I have done this many times without being thrown out of the restaurant. Be prepared to give demonstrations to astounded diners, who also happen to have children in their party.

Well, I *did* read your instructions, but I'm not sure I understood them correctly. :D Do you have a photo so I can see what it is supposed to look like?

Do I look like the sort of person who carries around photographs of dead chickens made of restaurant napkins?
How many do you want?

I've just done this with a tea-towel. The legs were a bit long, but then it was a rectangle and not a square (and, no, I'm cutting up a perfectly good tea-towel)
Excellent.

That's the spirit Magwitch! Don't run with those scissors! Have you taken a photo for Bel?

I found a youtube clip now:

I still ended up with no chicken.

I believe I have previously witnessed the creation of just such a chicken.
It is indeed a wonder to behold, though iirc, it resembles a rubber chicken more than a real one.

On that YouTube clip they used a BLUE napkin. It's never going to look like the real thing with a blue napkin. Ask for a chicken coloured one. Restaurants all stock them in a special cupboard next to the dirty cutlery they use to lay the tables for customers who won't complain.

I tried it. Got it wrong, with just a loop of napkin at the end. I obviously need to concentrate harder.

I think you may well need three hands to do this.

I try my best.
We do need to keep the bar high for entries to keep the riffraff out.
We wouldn't want anything sill appearing in the guide!

Dear Minorvogonpoet,
One error that beginners often make is to think that they will stay in the same plane for the unravelling as they did in the building.
This is a mistake.
When you are pulling the corners out you are doing it at right angles to the original plane of construction.
There, I hope that makes it perfectly clear.

I haven't tried this yet but I have a good imagination.
'Now take the left and right ends of the rolls and fold them upwards..'
With the rolls inside or outside?
And I guess this only works with cloth not paper?

Thanks Vestie.
It's true I'm not good at things like origami. It's all I can do to line a cake ring.

There is no instruction to turn it over so the rolls are on the top. In the Youtube video they do turn it over but you don't get the feeling of something being strangled into existence that way.
