Hi, this is my first entry, I realise that it is probably dire and you all can't wait to tear it to shreds, but please don't be too harsh, it's my first piece! thanks.

This isn't really suitable for the Edited Guide... but based on my few experiences of the night life here in Swindon is *is* 100% factual!

I don't know whether it is suitable or not, but it is actually about a much more restricted subject than "Nightclubs outside of London". It doesn't cover New York, Tokyo, Rio etc. In fact, it appears to be "UK Nightclubs outside of London" or possibly "English Nightclubs outside of London".

I think very possibly it covers nightclubs in Essex!
I also think that this would be great in the Edited Guide, but perhaps a mention at the beginning that this is a humourous look at human behaviour in 'local nightclubs might go down well.
I really liked it, it made me laugh, as well as cringe a little.

This is a funny entry and I think it would be great in the Edited Guide! I agree with Mina that you might want to have a quick note at the beginning, though.

Very enjoyable entry, I reckon! I'm just pondering on whether it might be better to do an entry simply about 'nightclub etiquette' - after all, isn't it pretty much the same whether you're in London or elsewhere? Don't annoy the door supervisors, develop a technique for getting served quickly, locate the bogs quickly, that kind of thing.
Just a suggestion...!

But that won't be nearly as funny as this one! Maybe that could be an additinal entry - this one with perhaps a title change should be left standing I think.

To my mind, the 'of' in the title is superfluous. It's almost like that other abomination that many people now use, thinking it to be 'modern' and 'cool', ie. 'off of'. As I've said before on h2g2, it has even been heard coming from the mouths of BBC and other channel's newscasters, particularly from the regional newsdesks, as has that other misused aspirate 'h' in naming the letter of the alphabet.
Otherwise, the Entry is quite interestingly written and seeks to inform us.

Is 'off of' really *that* modern and cool? I remember adults saying it when I was a kid. I've played a few possible uses of the phrase in my head and grammatically speaking there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it.
But yes, the title of the entry would make just as much sense without the 'of'.

Excess drinking, public urination, bad food, crap music, cattle mart groping, short skirts and bad dancing. Come to Ireland all our nightclubs are like this, the only difference being we get charged more. I thought this was the point of nightclubs though? i.e. get trolleyed find loose women or horny men and hook up. Smacks of more middle-class/capital city snobbery regarding the mating rituals of the working and provincial classes.
Sincerely,
SAMC

"'modern' and 'cool', ie. 'off of'."
As in, get off of me, you're hurting? Which was often said in my house as we were growing up!
Has this author Elvised? I'd quite like to get my grubby hands on this...

Well, they can hardly have Elvised after only a week! But they haven't posted since their first post on this thread...

What does Elvised mean?! And yes I see your point about dropping the 'of' in the title, but quite frankly I can't be bothered!

Elvised, also known as having Left the Building - where a Researcher hasn't been active on site for more than two months.

The point of Peer Review is for reviewers to suggest changes that would improve an entry, and to allow the author to incorporate those changes so that the entry is the best it can be. That includes little nit-picky grammatical things. If you see the point of a change someone has suggested, but 'can't be bothered' to make it, then, quite frankly, I'm not sure what you're doing in Peer Review.
