A87900195 Spying Isn't All It's Cracked Up to Be: The Case of George Dasch
I'll be subbing the above - or will I...?
This message probably won't self-destruct in five seconds, actually. 'Cos spying's not like that.

You've got great links in the entry, but I see you've not mentioned the greatest secret agent in the world: A340697
Anyway, I saw this and thought of you:

The link on 'Espionage Act 1917' leads to an entry on the 'Sedition Act 1918' which made me at first think ''. It appears the Sedition Act extended the Espionage Act to cover more offences, but did you want to tweak or clarify that in the entry?

I love the exploding rat. One of the highlights of a visit to London in 1975 was the Imperial War Museum. I'll never forget the 'Dad's Army Exhibit'. There was a pipe (smoking variety) that also fired a bullet...it struck me as a risky sort of toy...
Wild Bill Donovan's people invented a lot of that junk, too. I'm trying to remember the name of the guy who wrote about it after the war. I'm thinking it was in the book 'You're Stepping on My Cloak and Dagger.'
Okay, lest people become hopeless confused by the Espionage Act of 1917 (students usually do, and it's in the US History curriculum), here's a footnote you can add:
The Espionage Act of 1917 and the 1918 amendment to it known as the Sedition Act criminalised activities from spying for the enemy to publicly expressing opposition to the war. Passed during the Great War, the controversial law continued in its original form until the end of the Second World War.

Oh PS, I do not know 'Danger Mouse'. When we think of silly spies, it's either 'Get Smart' or Boris and Natasha from 'Rocky and Bullwinkle'.

They had a very similar exhibition last time I was in the Imperial War Museum, which was for the h2g2 meet when Florida Sailor was over. A re-read of my Meet Report A87840192 says it was called Top Secret.
Life without 'Danger Mouse' If only he had used his exploding rat for niceness… I did see the recent 'Get Smart' film while on a plane – 'The Man from UNCLE' new film too - but it wasn't the same.
Anyway, would you like to read through and let me know if there are any changes you'd like to make or whether I can press the button.

Give me a few hours...I've gotta run...
There is an emergency involving food poisoning (not me) and the transport of a portable keyboard......
