Short Subjects #2: Mersey Beat

While FWR is hanging out windows in thunderstorms, I decided to rummage through the Internet Archive to see if I could find some Liverpool footage. This was because I just got a new book of 60s songs, and I wanted something to go with 'Ferry 'Cross the Mersey'. So here's the result:

Freight trains in The Strand and a glimpse of the dockers' umbrella too! Lovely job on the Scouse Leslie DG. (although I actually can't stand that song! Lol)

smiley - laugh Thanks, you two! If you enjoyed it, that's all that matters.

Frankly, I was really curious to see some 60s Liverpool footage. Fascinating buildings, reminds me of Pittsburgh, architecturally.

I'd never even heard that song before, believe it or not. It just popped up in the anthology, so I thought, why not?

Quite a lot of those buildings have gone or been shrouded in a sea of glass and concrete now. Interesting to see Queen Victoria's monument as a roundabout! smiley - cheers

While watching this, somehow the idea came into my head, 'imagine us one day having to explain to the aliens what music is'.

Used my tripod for the first time. There's a thing on it to turn and make the camera moves less jerky next time.

I speeded this up to double speed to shorten the play length. The Cormorants like this spot to fish from but today they built a nest and move in for good..

They are sitting happily together right now...

Youtube sent an email and said that they had blocked the video due to a Copywrite violation...too bad..."Here comes the sun" was just the right length...I wondered if that was ever going to become an issue...

Where are you getting your Youtube audio files...my options seem very limited...

Free audio files are available here:

http://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music?o=U&ar=1578519077020&nv=1

They tell you if you can use them freely, or if you need to give them an acknowledgement. I like to acknowledge them, anyway - it's awesome that they share. You can also fade them in and out if they're too long, or double up, use more than one, etc. But you'll have to listen to the music first.

You could also ask me to play a cover. smiley - laugh It might take a day or two, but I'd be willing to do one if I have the music. They might tell you your video can't be monetised, because then the money has to go to the copyright holder, but covers are usually allowed and not illegal.

This is really the whole Heavy/Medium Leslie movement in a nutshell. smiley - rofl

(I don't think I have 'Here Comes the Sun'.)

For example, I put this one up yesterday, showing the crow outside my window:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZXrGGMwUFI

There's a notice that the video can't be monetised by me because I played 'Sound of Silence' over the crow's cawing. smiley - laugh If you see an ad, the .0001 cent fee, or whatever, will go to Mr Paul Simon, whom I am proud to support. smiley - rofl
