smiley - rofl I see. You'd feel right at home.

Tip: If you go in December, some of the local open their homes for a Christmas tour. Tickets include some hot cider and old carols.

Well, they used to say that, but the historians aren't in agreement. smiley - laugh

I think it was more because of property prices, and heating problems.

I was told that taxes were the reason for narrow houses in Bruxelles, B*lg**m. The width of your facade to the street decided the size of your property tax.

Which is why a company that built a tall office building there placed it in the backyard with a long and narrow entrance to the street. Et voila: Some tax evaders are funnier than others smiley - biggrin

smiley - laugh I've heard that, too. That sounds like an innovative solution.

But I remember discussions with the historian on the subject, and that wasn't the reason in Philadelphia, apparently. They were insistent that we not say that.

And don't get the historians started on the 'people were shorter then' argument. They'd get livid. smiley - rofl
